POPSWhat about a $700 MacBook? I've wondered this from time to time myself. Wouldn't an "inexpensive" MacBook appeal to a broad slice of the market - of course it would.

POPSApple iUnbrick? According to this post from Ars Technica (via Slashdot), the new 1.1.3 firmware has unbricked a couple of phones in testing. Personally I think the unresponsivness of Apple on the bricked iPhone issue is inexcusable. Alienating enthusiastic customers who help you sell your product is a really stupid move. Has Apple learned something from this experience? I doubt it, but only time will tell. Microsoft has done dumb things like this as well and they've learned some things, but ignore some other lessons. In the end, I think it really comes to corporate greed, and engineers thinking they know what customers want better than the customers themselves.

POPSJobs has nice words for Gates In addition to praising Gates contributions to the industry & society, he comments on Amazon's Kindle. He's right that it'll fail, but wrong on the reason. People do read - and like to! The issue is that digital readers don't meet the expectation of the public in cost and usability.

POPSApple is not immune to security issues I think Steve Jobs and Apple are finding out just how hard it is to keep popular products patched and secure. It's easy to make claims when your the underdog, but much harder when your platform is under scrutiny.

POPSApple paranoia kills off Think Secret Too bad they have to behave this way. With the growing interest in the Mac platform, this kind of action shows that they're not any different than Microsoft, IBM, or Google. Tsk, tsk.

POPSApple iPhone on June 29th Looks like all your Apple iPhone dreams may come true at the end of the month for a tidy $600 even. Not interested personally, but for Mac users, this'll be an awesome moment - something Windows Mobile and Palm users have known for years. :)
