POPSLife without broadband not worth it? While extremely useful, do people actually need broadband connectivity to survive? I'm a big 'Net user myself, but also wish for some time away from connectivity. Any thoughts?

POPSApple is not immune to security issues I think Steve Jobs and Apple are finding out just how hard it is to keep popular products patched and secure. It's easy to make claims when your the underdog, but much harder when your platform is under scrutiny.

POPSClear communications in social media Dave Fleet has a great post on being more clear and approachable to the non-geeks on the topic of social media. There are many ways of communicating concepts and he's taking the lead on making it easier to understand. Kudos Dave!

POPSInternet Explorer Confirmed (IE8) While this comes as a surprise to nobody, I just want to challenge Microsoft to build a browser that I want to switch *back* to. IE7 was not it, and I know they can do it.

POPSMicrosoft VoIP Server - Public Beta This will change everything - not because it's VoIP and cool, but because Microsoft will drive it into nearly every small, medium, and large size company. Large enterprise organizations will also see the cost/performance value. This changes the VoIP integration scene for all MS shops.

POPSOpen Letter to Twitter Shel Isreal has drafted an honest appraisal of the issues that Twitter currently has. It's good advice for the founders and the two people at the helm of Twitter. Better read up boys.

POPSMicrosoft Partners Announce New Phones & Devices I was able to learn about a number of these technologies at Windows Connections earlier this spring, but it's nice to see the products hitting the market at last. Should provide many more options to individuals & businesses looking for solutions.

POPSPrint may be dying, but the news is not One of the reasons I read Mathew Ingram's blog is because of the well thought out, intelligent commentary on his selection of topics. In this case, he does a great quick analysis of the current discussion of whether newspapers are dying or not. His point, and a good one, is that the purpose and need of the newspaper companies is still there - but the "paper" part is what will probably go into the dustbin of history. Mathew (again) has inspired my opinions on the topic, which I'm writing and will share on my blog (http://rickmahn.com) by tomorrow. Interesting if you have an opinion on newspapers or not.

POPSData Center in a box - DR Solution? Sun has a brilliant idea here. While many companies may not have a use for a "mobile data center", I can see the use of this type of solution during a disaster recovery for many large corporations. It would provide at least one additional option to traditional DR solutions.

POPSSeagate Readies Secure Drive Now this is something I would like to have in my next laptop. Now if they will incorporate this with a solid-state HDD, I'll be very happy indeed.
