The "Paul Is Dead" rumors go all the way back to the latter 60's and for a while was a huge phenomenon focusing around the "demise" of the left-handed Beetle. Some of the clues and hints that the Beetle's were supposedly sending in their album art and song lyrics are still quoted today...

POPSThe SECRET Warehouse from Indiana Jones with contents I use a similar concept in a role playing game. This was a HUGE list and hard to pare down to 1000 characters and have to skip some hilarious items like: Two strange electronic devices, found with a set of identifcation for "Commander Pavel Chekov, Starfleet." A heave metal box, 75cm on a side, painted in military green. Each side has the words, "This side towards enemy" printed on it. (Nuclear claymore mine) The "magic gun" that fired the "magic bullet" that killed JFK A large stone tablet, reconstructed from pieces, with writing on it. It is Hebrew and has Commandments 11 through 17 Microscope slide labelled "Turin Shroud section No. 325", with piece of material reading "Made In Korea" in tiny letters Snake Plisken's death certificate A searchlight with the sillouette of a bat on it and Universal Solvent (we think) (bring your own container) (hurry) (never mind...) A great and funny list

POPSZombies on the Loose! Sometimes you just have to grab a 30.06, a haversack of dry rations, and go hunting the undead. Mind you, I am not all that supportive of the idea as a Reaper may be confused with the Dietary Challenged Afterlife Figures so I will give you a quick lesson in the way to tell the Reaper from the Hungry Dead... 1) Reapers tend to wear Robes - Zombies do not. 2) Reapers are fastidious about their appearance - Zombies look like they wear their clothes in meat-packing plants, stockyards and the occasional Rob Zombie Movie. 3) Reapers carry Scythes and can sometimes be seen on Pale Horses - Zombies can't handle anything more complex than a club and will eat a horse! 4) Reapers travel alone - Zombies travel in Packs usually 5) Reapers collect souls - Zombies collect blood and cranial fluids, usually on their faces and chests. POPSExplorers, Daredevils & Record Setters of the 30's The Twenties and Thirties have always been an area of interest to me. The Roaring Twenties, where we drank Bathtub Gin and danced the Charleston. Speakeasies everywhere! (One reporter did an experiment in 25 different US Cities where he timed how long it would take to be able to buy illegal liquor. Shortest time was 21 seconds. Longest was 3 hours and 19 minutes. That must have been a "Dry County.") America was in love with the "new" vogue and any fads it could find. Just a few examples: phone booth stuffing (25 college students at University of Chicago), Marathon Dancing, Flagpole Sitting, Racecar Driving, Monopoly, the :"Talkies," Radio Programs, Coney Island, Daredevil Flying, Long-Distance Swimming, Harry Houdini, Solo Flights, Self-Made Millionaires, the Gangster (especially Al Capone who courted the media), Exploring the Unknown, and Political Radical Causes! History is amazing!

I like a little of both and I tell you what burns my butt every time is when a link is broke and the damn engine or directory just lets it slide. i don't have time to check out every link but i will say this: You will not find a more complete Horror Directory than here or on it's sister site, Horror:Search and Destroy... POPSYes it is True you Can Own Land on the Moon and Mars - RIGHT!
Today I found this interesting offer to buy an acre or so on the Moon or Mars. One acre on the Moon costs $29.95! Be One of the Ten largest property owners on the Moon and immediately you are set for the Colony to be sent when... we get around to it. I find the funniest thing is that this was posted in early 2005 and the server is still active I tried to get a pic of the moon phase with today's date and time and I got the Moon but not the date and time.. Even I have to admit it is an INTERESTING offer but if they are still up and running I suppose someone is getting there certified and sealed document of deed property on the Moon. Do you ever think those TEN Largest Landholders will ever set foot on the Moon? Well, no offense to you but was born at night, just not last NIGHT! This one made me laugh but feel a little sad at the same time as someone is being conned big time! Final Note: I did get all the info I wanted, I just ad to play with the color a bit is all. lol. POPSThe Thing in a Jar!!! This is right up my alley. When I worked in FX, we'd make "things" all the time. Usually we would put it in a place where our poor victim would either have it touch him or confront him in an unexpected manner. I want to point out that NO ONE was ever hurt by these pranks, at least, NOT the pranks I was in on. Safety is extremely important as well as knowing when the Mark has had enough and knowing not to take a prank farther than a certain limit. I DO NOT ADVISE ANYONE TO PULL ANY MALICIOUS PRANKS AND NEVER TRY THIS AT HOME KIDS!

POPSCrystal skulls in British, US Museums Are Fakes Indiana Jones would have probably taken as a fool by these as the British Museum Skull was bought 127 years ago and the Smithsonian was bought in 1960. If some of the best scientists, archaeologists, and anthropologists were fooled by the fakes, could have anyone ever have accidentally discovered the deception with only a cursory look? The Legend of the Crystal Skulls and their curse (or blessing - see story) have circulated for decades... nothing like true modern technology and skepticism to ruin a great myth of the paranormal!

POPSExtraterrestrial Particle Accelerator I recently read an excellent book titled "Decipher," about a diverse group of people trying to save the Earth. A linguist that specialized in dead languages like Chaldean and Sumerian... A CIA remote viewer.. A Construction Engineer for a Oil Company... An Archaeologist.. A Quantum Scientist/Mathematician focused on Chaos Theory... A Crack team of Marines with the ever noble squared-jaw leader. Their goal was to decipher a base 60 language that ad been left imprinted on crystal matrices tens of thousands years old with a carbon-60 elemental make up.. Read it if you can find it, it is amazing. The Particle Accelerator here was featured in that book and the Physicist was spouting off about these theories of mini-black holes and space/time distortion. Thus article goes one better as it alleges that the Collider is the only NON-TOP SECRET unit being used and many more exist...

Sometimes it does not have to make sense if it just has some connections - George Bush joins the Trilateral Commission (a brainchild of fellow Bonesman, David Rockerfeller ) in 1991. On SEPTEMBER 11, 1991, he makes his infamous New World Order speech... which espouses both the Trilateral Commission Globalization Policy and the Skull & Bones Society's tradition of members all being from rich families and seek to control economics as well as Political Policy and keeping power in the hands of a select few that follow their plans or are architects of it, of a "New World Order;" a world where the few who maintain power make policy for years to come and ONLY they do. NOW, 10 years to the day later, George W. Bush reads a book to school children as the hijacked passenger jets take down the WTC, tear into the Pentagon, and crash in a field due to brave passengers fighting back. Has anyone made THAT connection other than me? Coincidence or conspiracy? I Love Paranoia!

POPSIlluminates of Thanateros (IOT) Occasionally I will find a listing of a "secret society" that has an interesting ancestry of precursors (Austin Osman Spare) but loses something in the translation... i.e. basing their imagery on Michael Moorcock and the Order of Templar Orientis seems to be rather contraindicative. OTO was originally the Egyptian Rites of Freemasonry started originally by Giovanni Balsamo (Cagliostro) and taken over and reworkd by Aleister Crowley. Fits my definition of a curiosity.

POPSTHE ANOMALIST I found this site while perusing lynn's links. please forgive typos and punvtuation as i am recovering from carpal tunnel surgery on lft hand early on Friday. I am rt handed but i have a left hand usually making 7 out of 10 key strokes. Hunt & peck is not easy for me and they still have to operate on rt hand. Please bear with me but I found this site to be extremely in my range of collecting curiosities and high weirdness as Kenneth Hite calls it and if you have never had the luxury you should take a look at his live journal site. http://princeofcairo.livejournal.com/ I gurantee you will come to love his wonderful take on all things conspiratorial, Fortean, high weirdness, and secret history. it fuels my Muse for days at a time. i really do wish i could have done the Anomalist justice but give it a look, you may be surprised!

POPSThe Legacy of Charles Fort Many people over the space of 5000 yrs of human civilization have claimed to be prophets, messiahs, holy men or the Illuminated as compared to the rest of us "mere" normals. Some have claimed to be masters of the Black Arts (Aleister Crowley, et al) and some have claimed to be immortal or possessing long lives (Comte de Saint-Germain, Cagliostro, John Dee) or incredible psychic awareness (Edgar Cayce, Uri Gellar, Madame Blavatsky) but as far as I know only one man made his life out of collecting facts that were witnessed by many and researched diligently by him that still astound us. You have seen the kinds of things I am talking about on the X-Files or read of it in the Tabloids, but this man never took it as more than a wonderful reach that man's scientific knowledge was far from complete. Charles Fort only collected curiosities as I do. He was my inspiration. This is his legacy.

POPSThe Year 2038 Problem Part I I have this to say:: Roger M. Wilcox has a thorough knowledge base and is very funny. Following my enjoyment of his "That Wacky Century" and "That Wacky Millennium," I had to check out the man's homepage and he is quite diversified. This immediately caught my attention and though the Y2K bug was not so bad, this could actually be a severe problem as many more businesses use Unix than the 8088 architecture. It is the main portal between integrating PC and Mac on the same network and this is a matter that can cause huge foul-ups, but at least he gave us 35 years notice and I am passing along 30 years of that!
