POPSAttacking Alzheimer's with Red Wine and Marijuana What we are saying is it appears that a safe, legal substance the mimics those important properties of marijuana can work What they are saying is, don't grow your own, or legalise pot, but buy their upcoming (probably expensive) cure so the pharmatocracy can keep getting rich. All the while, you'll be protected from this *harmful* weed, via the war on drugs. Win/win, eh? :).

POPSFilling up your car with ELECTRICITY!! When we can fill up our cars with electricity instead of gasoline - and generate electricity through wind and solar power - and transmit more electricity over the grid - we will have truly changed global dynamics. The amazing thing is that it may not be more than a few years away! Any additional help we can get from Washington will make a huge difference. I hope to see this be a central issue in the upcoming election.

POPSCan the all-seeing, all-knowing Google be trusted to rule the world? Many of Google’s brightest ideas come from the attempt to fulfil its almost hopelessly ambitious mission: “to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.” Upcoming projects will go some way to achieving this goal. Amongst them is Google Book Search. For the past few years, Google have been scanning the pages of books in order to eventually release them online and make them fully searchable. Professor Angell argued that Google’s track record is admirable, but problems could come in the future. He said: “If it is a choice between Google holding my details and the British Government holding my details, I’d give them to Google every time. I see more nuisance value than evil intent.” But he added: “The moment any organization gets too vast, hubris takes over and then they fail.”

POPSWireless at Fiber Speeds Richard Ridgway, a senior researcher at Battelle, says that the technique could be used to send huge files across college campuses, to quickly set up emergency networks in a disaster, and even to stream uncompressed high-definition video from a computer or set-top box to a display.

POPSTree Power cont; A study last year from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology found that plants generate a voltage of up to 200 millivolts when one electrode is placed in a plant and the other in the surrounding soil. Those researchers have since started a company developing forest sensors that exploit this new power source.

POPSPorn stars are the new crossover artists There are also some complaints : "Back in the early days of porn, all the porn had a sense of humor to it, very bawdy, very winky, almost vaudevillian," he says. "It feels to me like the sense of humor has seeped out of porn. Audiences want to go straight to the action." "Asked why adult stars have become more acceptable in Hollywood, Soderbergh cited the proliferation of Internet porn"

POPSHomeland Security confiscates Songwriter Hard Drive Take a guess at the nature of the songs. From the article: "And though Walla's laughing when he mentions Guantánamo, he's not joking when he adds that his record — which he's calling Field Manual — is "very political," packed with songs about issues both foreign ("The Score" tackles the war in Iraq) and domestic ("Everyone Needs a Home" deals with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina; "Sing Again" is about so-called "morning after" pills and whether they're a form of contraception or abortion). Easy listening, this is not."

POPSThe Saddest Sad Songs Of All Time! I picked a few of my favourites. See the list and lyrics at the site. I couldn't get through life without music as a backdrop. Where would we be without it? If you need a rest from politics, just copy/paste a title and go youtubing . Even sad songs can make you happy. I heard this song when I was a little girl and my Dad told me it was about a dog (that probably drowned) and I bawled my eyes out! I still do! :D   Anyway, remember. Jumping off cliffs not allowed! . ;) Clip Song (Not sad, even!)

POPS Obama camp calls for special prosecutor in fraud investigation Very interesting. Obama certainly knows how to fight back. If this does all get turned over to this FBI investigator -- who is also the special prosecutor recently appointed to investigate the U.S. attorney firing scandal. --I think the Republicans are going to wish they never started this hyped-up, unfounded ACORN story.

POPSThe little bastard >> And at what should have been the end of the story of the tragic death of a Hollywood legend, the story gets really weird and an urban legend was born. You see, despite his earlier misgivings that the car gave off a "weird feeling of impending doom", George Barris decided to sell pieces of the car off. Even after it fell and broke a mechanic's leg while they were unloading it after George purchased it. George sold the engine and drive train to two doctors, Dr. Troy McHenry and Dr. William Eschrid. They each used the parts in their own racing cars and planned to race in the upcoming car race at the Pomona Fair Grounds in CA. And in a race marked with doom, each of them crashed. Dr. Eschrid lost control of his car and almost lost his life when his car overturned. Dr. McHenry did lose his live when he lost control and had a bad crash. Was it just coincidence or were even the parts from the Spyder somehow tainted? <<

POPSIsraeli ambassador hit by shoe continues: Dagan himself and officials at the Israeli Embassy in Stockholm could not be reached for comment. Last December, an Iraqi journalist hurled both shoes at former U.S. President George W. Bush when he was on a farewell visit to Iraq in December. Then last Monday a protester threw a shoe at Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao during a speech at Cambridge University in England. The Foreign Policies Association student group in Stockholm issued a statement on its web site deploring the incident. "Violence is never a solution," it said. A video posted on the Internet purporting to depict the event showed objects being hurled across a lecture hall towards a group of people at the front, who then hurried out of the room. A part of the video was blacked out and it was not possible to see who had hurled the objects.
