USA: Lies In, Truth Out in rush to more WAR

"States do not pursue weapons systems as ends in themselves; and states are hardwired to ensure their own survival. It is to that end that they acquire weapons systems, to protect, enhance or advance their own strategic position and even up the odds against more powerful rivals. As everything from the Cold War to the current deal with North Korea demonstrate, the only way to avoid nuclear conflict is to address the concerns and fears on both sides that might spark such a conflict. Weapons systems are dangerous, but not as dangerous as the conflicts that might result in them being used. And we should also get used to the idea that the globalization of technology on the current strategic landscape makes nuclear weapons likely to become the norm among states — after all, the existing eight nuclear weapons states have no intention of relinquishing theirs, so why would any states that anticipate being in conflict with any of them refrain from pursuing those weapons when the opportun

    What Is Neo-Conservatism?

Temporary alliances with other countries or movements whose own ideologies or practices may be morally reprehensible can be defended if they are used to fight a greater evil. The ends justifies the means. That's where our ways part. Neocons believe mankind is inherently evil, (how sad) whereas I choose to believe the opposite. We all create our own realities, I guess. Some may claim Neocons are a "Leftist movement", (*LOL*) because of their Trotskyite roots, but they evolved and grew increasingly and vehemently anti-communist during the 1960's. I think it is safe to say, they are right wing today. What do you call an ex-Leftist Jew?

How the Neocon-Christian Right Alliance Brought Down the House of Bush
    Rasmus
    by Rasmus  11-21-2007    4
      C. UNGER: I traveled undercover with Tim LeHay, who is the prophet of the "Left Behind" series. I traveled with him to the battlefield of Armageddon, where they believe the final conflict would take place. Megiddo is -- from Megiddo, we get the term Armageddon, where the final conflict will take place. And I was walking up the hill with LeHay and about ninety of his followers, and as you look over this spectacularly beautiful pastoral valley . They see that it will be filled with blood, the blood of as many as two billion people. And I talked with them about that, and they say there will be a river of blood, 200 miles long, about four-and-a-half feet deep. And I asked one of them when all this would take place. And they said, “Very soon, but not soon enough. Any day now.” So they see this fantasy is taking place, and this is sort of one of the horrific visions that is spelled out in the Book of Revelation.

    Standing Up to Conservative Bullying
    gingembre
    by gingembre  6-25-2007    3
Here's a bit more to explain the brinkmanship and absolutism: "Brinkmanship is being used to force the federal government to write a blank cheque for the pipeline, and indemnify Exxon against ecological disasters and further cost increases..." "Absolutism (Bush-style "you're either with us or you're with the terrorists" framing) is being used to bully Canada into committing to keep our troops in the midst of the anarchy and civil war in Afghanistan. The PR from the military is increasingly using the term 'enemy' to describe anyone in Afghanistan who opposes the continued presence of foreign troops in their country. The ideologically rabid Harper Conservative minority government routinely uses the "if you don't support our war, you don't support our troops" line to disparage anti-war groups. And today a military spokesman lambasted the Canadian media for daring to publicize opinion polls showing Canadians' strong opposition to the war, saying it was "demoralizing our troops".

If you've got oil and you've been in bed with the Bush's for decades you can send all the fighters you want to Iraq to kill U.S. soldiers. Is this treason? There have been 700 Al Qaeda soldiers enter Iraq since August 2006 and Al Qaeda is to blame for all the violence in Iraq? It should be obvious to anyone with half a brain that Al Qaeda and foreign fighters were always a minor player in the violence and chaos released by Bush and the neocons in Iraq.

I was harassed by a neo-con student when I was a professor. She kept changing the subject from actual class material. The first day she talked about prayer in school (not a topic covered in this course), when I was trying to just go over the syllabus. Most frustrating, she had zero critical thinking skills, dominated the class, and angered the other students.

The neocons in the U.S. and their pet bully, Israel, intend to dominate the Middle East and its oil. That means any country not run by a servile suck-up (Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, etc.) must be weakened or destroyed. We've pretty much destroyed Iraq and Lebanon, so that leaves Syria and Iran. I imagine the neocons plan on Israel taking out Syria while the U.S. carpet-bombs Iran. The neocons are not only idiots, they are evil. They show a complete disdain for peace, a callous disregard for human life, and utter contempt for the rule of law. If that ain't evil, the devil had better retire.

We know Iraq is a powder keg but did we know just how much. Bush keeps muttering the word WIN... I can't imagine what the hell he hopes to win... is it OIL, PRESTIGE, POWER or all of the above? Now Turkey is getting effected by the Iraq lawlessness this war has caused. Regional warfare was the cautionary counsel put to the Bush/Neocons about a preemptive war in Iraq which, of course, they turned a deaf ear to... Well, it looks as though we are looking at far more than a Bush WIN in Iraq. While Bush has his wet dreams of becoming the planet's most beloved leader, we just might be looking down the barrel of some indisputable WMD's that are not hidden away in some Bush/Neocon pipedream.

Bush and national-security advisers have consolidated control over the military and intelligence communities’ strategic analyses and covert operations to a degree unmatched since the rise of the post-WW2 national-security state. He has an aggressive, ambitious agenda for using that control-against Iran and against targets in the ongoing war on terrorism The CIA will continue to be downgraded and increasingly serve as one government consultant with close ties to the Pentagon put it, as “facilitators” of policy. The war on terrorism would be expanded and effectively placed under the Pentagon’s control. Bush has signed a series of findings and executive orders authorizing secret commando groups and other Special Forces units to conduct covert operations against suspected terrorist targets in as many as 10 nations. “The neocons say negotiations are a bad deal,” a senior official of the IAEA. “And the only thing the Iranians understand is pressure.      The war was never over for Joseph Patrick Dwyer. He may have physically come home but forever mentally he would remain in the hell hole that Bush and his band of Neocons had created. With the wars suicide rates (Post-War Suicides May Exceed Combat Deaths) this war hasn't ended for countless troops who are back home. For many years to come, even if the next President can bring em all home (I'm not talking about McCain-McSame) many will suffer and die on their own turf. In that respect the Iraq war will never end, not for many years to come when there will be no one left on Earth who will remember this criminal war. And that is as sad as the war itself. How many more tears will be shed? thinkingblue.blogspot.com http://www.thethinkingblue.com/iraqvetdies.html

    blueridge
    by blueridge  11-17-2007    1
Not only deserters but veterans of the current wars are protesting them as not defensive wars for the U.S.. There could be then two classes of dissenters, deserters who flee and those who remain, due to fear of prosecution or what others might think, who remain until their terms is up. The dissent within the military goes drastically unreported. This article mentions dissent during Clinton's wars too, which republicans justly protested against, and Bush campaigned that he would not do the same ("humble foreign policy, no policing the world", as Ron Paul reminds them). But he has done much, much more. America is not fighting terrorists. It is overthrowing countries for global hegemony, which the neocons admit in their plan.

U.S. Bombed Syria, Not Israel, says Jerusalem Post
    blueridge
    by blueridge  11-3-2007    5
Is this propaganda from an Israeli paper or true? If true then... We should DEMAND an explanation then to know why the President (sic) Bush did not get on TV and tell the American people that "today, U.S. pilots bombed a Syrian facility which we believed was being constructed for nuclear enrichment projects". At least Reagan did this when we bombed Libya and Kadafi. But this was done IN STEALTH....WE HAD TO READ ABOUT IT IN A FOREIGN NEWSPAPER, which shows the media's absolute complicity in this censorship! He did not even inform Congress, if this is true! An act of war on another country, Syria, is precisely what the secretive neocons (including Cheney) have been wanting. There is no proof to their allegation, which both Syria and North Korea disavowed (claim was N Korea had sent nuke equipment to Syria for constructing facility). THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS, which is why the story broke on Friday (news dump day)!
