Can the US Imperialist attitude ever gain peace???

    by ratcatcher2  5-9-2009
When has there ever been real peace negotiations while sides are still killing? Well maybe in the Paris Peace Talks with Vietnam, the US army wanted it both ways. Didn't work then either. Why should the US have boycotts on Syria? Why on Cuba? Surely if your case is fair, then the big stick should be at least out of sight! The value of unfair boycotts have proven pointless in Cuba. The longer the boycott, the stronger the opponent. North Korea!? Yet, I believe that a REAL boycott by the EU appeasers of WW2 would force peace in a year in the Middle East. Diplomacy is an oxymoron for Americans. Few imperialists ever won the peace.

UN accuses Israel of Gaza 'negligence or recklessness'

    by ratcatcher2  5-5-2009
It found the Israeli military's actions "involved varying degrees of negligence or recklessness", and that the military took "inadequate" precautions towards UN premises. It said the deaths of civilians should be investigated under the rules of international humanitarian law. The UN should take action "to seek accountability and pursue claims to secure reparation or reimbursement" for UN expenses and payments over deaths or injury to UN staff and damage to UN property where the responsibility lay with Israel, Hamas or any other party, the report added. In total, more than $11m worth of damage was caused to UN premises. The inquiry looked in detail at nine incidents, in which several Palestinians died. It found the Israeli military responsible in seven cases where it had "breached the inviolability" of the UN. ... Guardian

    ratcatcher2
    by ratcatcher2  3-31-2009
"The accounts, published in two Israeli newspapers last week, further fueled international outrage over the Gaza offensive. Israel, which invaded Gaza to end years of rocket attacks by Hamas militants on Israeli towns, is already under international scrutiny about whether it used disproportionate force and failed to protect civilians. Gaza's Hamas rulers have been criticized for targeting civilian areas and using Palestinians as human shields. Senior military officials have acknowledged using massive firepower in Gaza to deter Hamas gunmen and prevent casualties among Israeli forces. The offensive was unprecedented in its deadliness, and contrasted with the smaller, pinpoint operations of the past in Gaza." ... AP

"Within a short weekend since the posting of the press release, more than 80 academics from all over the country have endorsed the action and the numbers continue to grow." Asked if the group would accept the endorsement of Hamas supporters, Lloyd said, "We have no a priori policy with regard to the membership or affiliation of supporters of the boycott so long as they are in accord with the main aims stated in the press release." He argued that, "on several occasions Hamas has sought direct negotiations with Israel, a pursuit that constitutes de facto recognition of Israel, and has openly discussed abandoning its call for the destruction of the state of Israel con

The UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon strongly condemned the attacks. He has demanded "a thorough investigation into these incidents and the punishment of those who are responsible for these appalling acts." Mr Ban has also announced a UN inquiry into the "casualties and damage" at UN property during the conflict. Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, say this is not enough. They want a comprehensive international investigation into all the alleged violations of international law during the conflict - by Israel, by Hamas and by other Palestinian armed groups. HRW says it has been in Gaza investigating a number of allegations.

Amnesty International researchers who visited both Gaza and southern Israel during the fighting and in its immediate aftermath, found compelling evidence of war crimes and other serious violations of international humanitarian law . This included direct attacks by Israeli forces on Palestinian civilians and civilian objects in Gaza, attacks which breached the prohibition on disproportionate attacks and the use of weapons, such as white phosphorus, which have indiscriminate effects when used in densely-populated civilian areas. In the same period, Hamas and other Palestinian armed groups fired hundreds of indiscriminate rockets into civilian population centres in southern Israel. ... Amnesty press report Feb 10 2009

McClatchyde: IDF used Gazans as HUMAN SHIELDS

    by ratcatcher2  2-9-2009    2
"There is powerful evidence that Israel used the tactic that they are accusing Hamas of using," said Fred Abrahams, a Human Rights Watch senior researcher who's investigating what happened in Gaza during the recent Israeli military offensive, which killed more than 1,200 Palestinians. The Abed Rabbo case also is under investigation by the Israeli human-rights group B'Tselem, which led a long campaign that eventually persuaded the Israeli Supreme Court to order the Israeli military in 2005 to stop using Palestinians as human shields. "The testimony seems pretty extensive and presents grave suspicions that Israeli soldiers forced Palestinians to perform dangerous tasks," said B'Tselem spokeswoman Sarit Michaeli. "And the fact that we're seeing these allegations on such a wide scale leads us to suspect that this was policy and not the decisions of one or two random soldiers."

Haaretz: "Why should Hamas recognise Israel?"
    ratcatcher2
    by ratcatcher2  2-7-2009    6
Israel's stance against recognizing a Palestinian government composed primarily of Hamas members who do not recognize Israel seems completely understandable. Most of the Palestinian public is not demanding that Hamas recognize Israel. This is what a reliable survey conducted in the territories indicates. The explanation for this is expressed by Hamas spokesmen in every corner, from Rafah to Jenin, and is very accepted in the territories: Look, Yasser Arafat and the PLO recognized the State of Israel in the Oslo agreement and what did they gain from that? Only suffering and misfortune. The economic siege on the West Bank and Gaza Strip, the targeted killings, the raids and checkpoints can be explained as an Israeli defense against terror attacks. But how can one explain the doubling of the number of settlers in the West Bank and Jerusalem since the Madrid conference and Oslo agreement? Since the 1996 elections in Israel, and almost through the end of Ehud Barak's government, there

In 1981-1982, when it launched violent raids on Lebanon in order to provoke Palestinian escalation preceding the Israeli invasion of Lebanon; and between 2001-2004, when PM Sharon repeatedly ordered assassinations of high-level Palestinian militants during declared ceasefires, provoking violent attacks that enabled Israel's virtual reoccupation of the West Bank. Israel's current assault on Gaza bears many trademark elements of Israel's long history of employing "strategic escalation" to manufacture a major crisis, if not a war.

There was his conversion to Catholicism when I believes that a non-Christian faith was where he was at! Clearly this conversion is not taken seriously by many!? Search and you will find that ONLY the three sources quoted here carried his conversion. It never happened folks in it's not in the Zionist media!!! Obviously Blair then is totally offside in this. Clearly he is now prepared to mouth off if the money is right. This time it was The Times of London's money.
