UK medics go on Hunger Strike: Prevented from giving aid!!!

    by ratcatcher2  5-19-2009    5
The cardiac surgeon took a month's holiday from work to take part in the mission for the Manchester-based charity Palestine International Medical Aid (PIMA) "This is very important for us," he said. "There are loads of people with heart disease . They can't get here , they can't get to Israel. If it's this hard for us to get to, how difficult is it for the Palestinians to get out?" PIMA's director, Dr Ahmed Almari, said: "It's unbelievable. They're a group of doctors, they went for education and teaching, to set up a cardiac unit. It's unfair and sad that it is only as a result of a hunger strike that anybody pays attention. There's no reason to stop them from crossing."

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in Palestine condemned ‘the recent wave of eviction orders and demolitions of Palestinian houses’. Israel’s ongoing crimes include the murder of unarmed protesters, the burning of olive groves and other farmland, the continued imposition of a brutal siege of Gaza, and the extension of its apartheid Wall, declared illegal by the International Court. It is unbearable that EIFF should accept sponsorship from such a Government.

"Similarly, it is acceptable to argue that Israel's offensive in Gaza was wrong -- but it would be anti-Semitic to criticize Israel on the grounds that Jews are dirty, greedy or sinister. The Foxmans and Dershowitzes say that comparing Israelis to Nazis is, in the final analysis, anti-Semitic because it is so demonstrably untrue and so patently disingenuous. Even Israel's fiercest critics, they argue, ought to concede that the country's actions have been taken in its own defense -- even if one believes that defense was misguided or disproportionately violent or even criminal. Further, they say that the number of Palestinian deaths during the 60-year conflict can't begin to compare to the 6 million Jews who died in the Holocaust. To suggest a moral equivalency is anti-Semitic because it's so absurd."

Shame USA: Tactics worthy of Goebbels/Zionists
    ratcatcher2
    by ratcatcher2  5-10-2009    3
Goebbels and the Zionist favourite tactic is to blame the victim for their own deaths. Without ANY evidence, the US military's response was to blame the Taliban for the HUGE number of civilian fatalities in Afghanistan!!! Is the logic that if it worked in Gaza, why not for the US in Afghanistan? If any independent investigation shows evidence of this monstrous charge, I'll never ever clip anything about the US army or Goebbels! I Promise.

UN accuses Israel of Gaza 'negligence or recklessness'
    ratcatcher2
    by ratcatcher2  5-5-2009
It found the Israeli military's actions "involved varying degrees of negligence or recklessness", and that the military took "inadequate" precautions towards UN premises. It said the deaths of civilians should be investigated under the rules of international humanitarian law. The UN should take action "to seek accountability and pursue claims to secure reparation or reimbursement" for UN expenses and payments over deaths or injury to UN staff and damage to UN property where the responsibility lay with Israel, Hamas or any other party, the report added. In total, more than $11m worth of damage was caused to UN premises. The inquiry looked in detail at nine incidents, in which several Palestinians died. It found the Israeli military responsible in seven cases where it had "breached the inviolability" of the UN. ... Guardian

Ha'aretz: "Sadly, Israel is no longer democratic"
    ratcatcher2
    by ratcatcher2  5-3-2009    1
The long-term evidence of abuse by soldiers against civilians at the checkpoints - including repeated instances of expectant mothers who are forced to give birth in the middle of the road, surrounded by armed soldiers who laugh wickedly -is no secret either. Day after day, year after year, the most moral army in the world helps to steal lands , uproot trees, steal water, close roads - in the service of the righteous "Jewish and democratic" state and with its support. It's heartbreaking, but the State of Israel is no longer democratic. We are living in an ethnocracy under "Jewish and democratic" rule. Our sages have said: "Don't be overly righteous." And there is absolutely no question that dropping cluster bombs in an area populated by civilians, as we did in the Second Lebanon War, does not testify to great righteousness. The same thing can be said of using phosphorus bombs against a civilian population. ... Ha'aretz

    by ratcatcher2  3-31-2009
"The accounts, published in two Israeli newspapers last week, further fueled international outrage over the Gaza offensive. Israel, which invaded Gaza to end years of rocket attacks by Hamas militants on Israeli towns, is already under international scrutiny about whether it used disproportionate force and failed to protect civilians. Gaza's Hamas rulers have been criticized for targeting civilian areas and using Palestinians as human shields. Senior military officials have acknowledged using massive firepower in Gaza to deter Hamas gunmen and prevent casualties among Israeli forces. The offensive was unprecedented in its deadliness, and contrasted with the smaller, pinpoint operations of the past in Gaza." ... AP

British supermarkets are being pressed by critics of Israeli settlement policy to initiate a new labelling practice, whereby goods from Palestinian and Israeli producers are respectively marked as such, so that British consumers will know whether they are buying Israeli or Palestinian products. What begins in the UK, the activists with whom I spoke this week further noted, could quickly spread to Europe - where, incidentally, there have already been some extremist-organized consumer protests against the sale of Israeli products, and where Sweden will soon be succeeding the notably more sympathetic-to-Israel Czech Republic as president of the EU. ...JPost

    Brilliant Cartoon. Anti-Semitic or anti-Zionist?!

    by ratcatcher2  3-26-2009    1
Oliphant's political cartoon about the Israel-Gaza conflict has sparked a predictable uproar from ADL, who see the cartoon as anti-Semitic. How does one respond to the sight of a Star of David mutant with giant teeth and one evil eye fixated on a defenceless tiny woman, holding a baby? I'm confident that its message is anti-Israel, not anti-Semitic. Israel is obviously the jack-booted headless figure carrying the sword and Star of David as weapons. The jack-boots and goose-stepping are meant to provoke the reader with comparisons to a Nazi storm-trooper. Right?
