POPSProgressive Media I just watched "Very Young Girls" last night. I cried. There are too few people who know anything about what poverty is truly like in the US. Although this documentary is about prostitution in NYS, it is also really about being poor and being a minority girl.

POPShuman-power green enrgy exercise get your workout, watch tv, play wii, and generate the power for it all with your legs! yep... has been bohering me to think that we would use energy to burn energy- the typical exercise machine set-up. Can you imagine how much money the local gym would save if they started harnessing the power of the people?

POPSiPod transfer tunes Dad, I was thinking about what we were talking about earlier & happened across these tools that Glo could use to transfer/ share her music between her mac & her iPods without manually entering/ copying every song she wants to her new iPod Touch. Will you pass the information along?

POPSConservative squashes freedom of speech to destroy the Green for All Movement Looks like the Bush Commission is still having a stifling effect on the First Amendment- Freedom of Speech. The question of whether or not Former President Bush and Administration "allowed 9/11" to happen is pretty much irrelevant- the information that attacks were imminent was circulating within the government and it was not acted upon. Most people have probably forgotten that because Bush launched a war on Afganistan practically the same day the news came out.

POPSPassed Green Jobs/ Green NY According to this the program is already in effect, but specific NYS communities have been selected for the funding through a "competitive solicitation process" and the funds should eventually trickle through local contractors, utilities, and community groups that partner w/ a rep sample of some poor people or that have an office in a poor neighborhood. ...I really shouldn't be so cynical, it is just so hard not to be when you can't afford a hot water heater.

POPSMoving from Flash to ActionScript Making the web accessible! Good to know about this option, mindmapping software seems to have a most useful export to flash format that doesn't help with screenreader accessibility- unless this actionscript thingy will work. something to keep in the brain matter.

POPSCenter for Radical Urban Sustainability in Trouble I wonder how many buildings the City of Austin owns, that are not kept up to code? Why don't they help keep good tenants in and save themselves the trouble of taking over another property? Then again, may be there's a new buyer hoping to put up some condos after cutting all the trees down. That would be the plan here in Buffalo!

POPSMarvelous Mulberry Tree Thinking about becoming the new Johnny Appleseed- Rachael Mulberribranch, or something. This awesome mulberry tree is growing from between the cracks of the sidewalk at the house next door to me in the ghetto. The negligent landlords have decided that people don't like trees, so they cut every tree down to a stump, every year. But, this mulberry tree had the most amazing fruit last year, attracted two kinds of humingbirds, and so many other species of birds rarely seen on the West side of Buffalo, NY. Maybe some cuttings planted in vacant lots will bring some life back to the hood.

POPSSoftware to take control of chronic illness Awesome! Now let me just find an open source program that is available for free. Rather than having to go through the hoops of getting medicare/ medicaid/ tbi waiver to pay for something that will empower me and REALLY help me recover. Would also be a good addition to a health-related participatory research project. Maybe the company wants to start an open source branch to speed up the development of customized versions- well, since I haven't even been to the site yet, I will do that before any further speculation.
