POPSThe Blossom Stage
This painting was conceived in the most unusual way. For winter holidays everyone in our home was preparing hand-made surprises for each other. As my brothers were carving a chess table, I was thinking of how to surprise my mother who was very sick expecting the fifth baby at that time. She appreciates my paintings above anything else, therefore I decided to create something different and joyful, so the painting could distract her from her extremely difficult pregnancy. But what I was about to create both with my paints and with my poem would actually carry a much deeper meaning … I had only five days left and I was sure I would be able to keep this a secret, since my mom never entered my studio without my permission. The whole painting is a movement in the virtual reality stage. Geisha is symbolizing entertainment. Her unique dress and make-up separates her from reality. At first I had painted the front of her face, then later decided to turn it away facing the horizon.Everyt

POPSReturning Home Entrance into the unknown is the entrance into eternal life full of different dimensions, energies, times, personalities, spirits and choices, where the levels of experiences are beyond our imagination. Here planets symbolizing souls return back to their designer for new assignments, new adventures, new relationships and new challenges.

POPSEndurance Endurance It has been raining heavily. But the rain has stopped, and water streaks on the glass starting to dry up form into various shapes of raindrops. Someone is watching the room through the window and notices an orchid gracefully blooming in a pot. The orchid is a special flower which unlike other plants blossoms without wilting for many many weeks. Here it represents hope and endurance. The orchid feels the watcher’s burden and suffering. That is why out of thin air in the dry room the rain starts dripping inside on the table creating a symbol of a different dimension – the dimension of empathy. The raindrops on the window represent pain and tears. When we are lonely or desperate we need someone to show their compassion. We need an embrace, a kind word, or an understanding glance. Even during the worst of times we should remember that there is always tomorrow, there is always someone who cares, and the rain will stop soon… We need to persevere and patiently wait for

POPSThe Garden Arch This painting was first begun with a stone wall. But one day I dreamt of an egret family at the end of a garden arch, and soon the vines replaced the wall. This became my quick impression of graceful birds, pure and affectionate. I thought that their free spirit and fantastic ballerina-like dances would be the light at the end of a tunnel. I decided to finish it in an impressionistic - dreamlike style rather than realistically detailed. The white feathers here represent purity and honesty. The affection represents love. The blossoms represent joy, and the arch represents the path of life – the bird dimension that is never complete without both the flight and the ground. The bottom of the arch is grounding, and the top is the flight. No bird, even the strongest, can stay in the sky forever. It needs both the sky and the ground. It is on the ground where the bird dreams are born, but it is in the sky where they are realized.
