This actually reminds me of Fahrenheit 451, and its dystopian world, and how everything is characterized by an 'oppressive control' within the context of society. How such premise could actually be a part of our not-so-distant future, or maybe, say, an 'alternate history'? (I borrowed words from Wikipedia, many thanks.)
