POPSThe Army doesn't care, do the Politicians? Although I am not surprised at the behavior of the Army, I am surprised that the politicians keep allowing this. There seems to be a lot more care taken of the big political issues than the mounting human tragedy of the veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan.

POPSHow to win wars against guerillas If we were smart, this is how we would prosecute our war in Iraq and Afghanistan with all our troops. This is the only way that a guerrilla war can be won. Guerrilla wars, which is what these are, are won by winning the hearts and minds of the population. Mao proved it, Vietnam proved it, and it is being proved in Afghanistan and Iraq. Why we don't recognize it, except sporadically as a "risky strategy," is beyond me.

POPSBush - Pullout means accepting defeat I hate to agree with Bush. He got us into an unnecessary war, which is inexcusable. I do, however, think that pulling out now is wrong. Iraq will devolve into even more chaos and Iran will take over. Just because we don't want to have been put in the war, we were and we have to do the right things by Iraq and the world so Iraq doesn't disintegrate because of what we have done, and Iran, a dangerous supporter of terrorism, doesn't gain hegemony in the Middle East.
