POPSWho is Obama? A radical? A centrist? A reconciler? This is an interesting take and I would recommend the whole article.

POPSSwift Satire gores both sides I think Jon Swift is one of the funnies guys in the blogosphere. He goes on to say: "But some conservative “intellectuals” like David Brooks subscribe to the canard that the conservative movement was defined by pointy-headed eastern elites like William Buckley, whose “entire life,” Brooks recently wrote, “was a celebration of urbane values, sophistication and the rigorous and constant application of intellect.....Brooks even goes so far as to claim that conservatives once valued “constant reading, historical understanding and sophisticated thinking.” We did? Since when? Does he honestly believe that the conservative movement was based on people who read books? Reagan wasn’t elected by the Harvard faculty. It was an angry mob tired of welfare queens and pinko fellow travelers selling us out to the Soviet Union that put him in office."

POPSConservatives target 12-year-old boy and his family in S-CHIP debate
What kind of people go after a poor twelve year old kid and his family? Usually I have some respect for both sides (or at least I respect them both equally), but this is just unconscionable. As the article goes on to say: "Now, when dealing with a large group of conservatives who oppose healthcare for poor children on principle, I suppose it’s best to keep expectations low. But this is perhaps the most vile smear the right has launched in recent memory. The Frosts are not political candidates. They are not publicity-seekers. They are not political players of any kind. This is a family who can’t afford healthcare for their kids who need it, and they showed courage asking the president to do what’s right for other families in similar circumstances." Cynics, whom I generally hold in high regard when it comes to politics, like Malkin, ought to step back and look themselves in the mirror. Lambaste the Dems for using the family, but don't go after poor folks and their 12 year old.

POPSColonel Calls treason, Economist calls for Coup
I find this thinking frightening. First - a military coup is by definition treason. Second - Therefore by this reasoning, the people espousing the view that a coup is the solution are actually more treasonous than those they accuse. This is fairly typical for those advocating a coup. Third - The Buzz Peterson interview ignores the first clause of the definition of treason, which in my view is tied to the second and therefore the second makes no sense without the first. Here is the whole definition; "Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort." "Adhering" is a fairly specific term, meaning joining or becoming a part of. The aid and comfort part is tied to the adhering part and tied to the war part. People who say we should be fighting Al Qaeda in different ways, can not be said to be adhering or giving aid and comfort by their mere words. Its always the Colonels.

POPSDefend the Constitution - Remove Gonzales Dick Viguerie says it best. I can't remember the last time I agreed with him, but this demonstrates how bad Gonzales is and also how bad it is for both sides to go down the paths that George and his cronies have taken us. It is a recognition of the slippery slope that "adjusting" the constitution for partisan politics can take you down. The Constitution and defense of it should rise above partisanship and we should fight for the defense constitutional rights and the Constitution itself no matter who it benefits at the moment.

POPSLower the Minimum Wage This site is a true homage to its namesake Jonathan Swift. I love its satire. take a look. Incidentally, the measure in the last part of the clip was one to abolish the minimum wage completely.
