POPSFLOW: Documentary humanizes international water politics Please join me along with the directors urge to viewers to sign the UN petition http://article31.org/ that would make access to clean drinking water a basic human right. The director wants you to think of water as a commodity that's as precious as oil--blue gold, as they say. "Blue Gold" is also the title of a book by Maude Barlow, an activist who is featured in the film, fighting against the corporate takeover of water systems. Whoever controls water, has power. Though our tap water is pretty regulated, we insist on buying bottled water (in one particularly troubling tale, Nestle is selling Michigan water back to citizens of the state in bottles for a fee). Barlow says California has 20 years of water left, Arizona has 10 (but with the way they're building golf courses, she says, they could reduce it to five). Until then, don't forget to turn off the faucet when brushing your teeth.

POPSBernard Madoff arrested over alleged $50 billion fraud WOW, and I get threatening collection letters if I owe a company $2.00 if its not paid in two months.. How does this go on for so long? I have a question -- why is it that when OJ goes to jail they actually show going there, but when these types go to prison all you get is a mention about them going, but they never show clips of them actually being there! Are these the prisons with the golf courses? $50 billion wow!!!

POPS(Katrina Victims) - Louisiana should secede from the United States and request foreign aid!
It's unfortunate to see that in over 2 years very little progress had been made. Displaced residents are no longer residents but homeless. Insurance companies have skillfully shirked their promise of being “good neighbors” or the “good hands people”, and avoided paying legitimate claims. This criminal behavior has robbed victims of Katrina of the hope of rebuilding their lives, families and communities. I find it interesting that our government hasn’t taken more action. Maybe President Bush is waiting for displaced residents to give up the deeds to their empty plots of land, so his Texan friends can build a resort with a few nice golf courses and call it the Rivera of something. I guess it’s a sign of the times. Insurance companies with large lobby groups can avoid the raindrops. Companies can terminate retirement benefits. Social Security should have a new motto, “don’t count on it”. And for former residents of Louisiana, “Forget about it”.

POPSInterest in Golf declining Unfortunately this does not seem to be the case where I live. I doesn't matter how many golf courses are developed, they are packed and early tee-times are hard to come by.

POPSGreens Welcome ERMA Decision on Endosulfan Dunno if the Kiwis are leading, but the stuff is very toxic. Hope that they are the last, I suppose. Has been some action in the last few years, or at least a recognition of it's toxicity.
