    Cyril Ellis - a hero

    by notareargunner  10-28-2009
Heroes are so often quiet people who do little to arouse notoriety until they are called on to do superhuman things. They are abound today in the mountains of Afghanistan, a legacy of past generations cemented on tradition and loyalties established by giants like Cyril Ellis. Cyril answered the call along with others of his generation and his family; his brother Ronnie was a sergeant of Guards, Cyril became a Royal Marine and was one of the original Commandos. When Britain was able to go on the offensive to Free Europe, it was the types of Cyril Ellis who led the way. He fought with great distinction, and many say he ought to have been decorated, at Salerno where, as an acting colour-sergeant, led his troop to capture German artillery and prevent a massive counter-attack from a strong and well equipped foe. Subsequently, whilst with 41 Commando, he was involved with the assault on D-Day beaches of Normandy, and in late autumn of that year in the reckless and magnificent assault

In a modern age where logistics are so essential it is amazing that a semi literate almost primitive foe can have access to modern telephone technology but the Nato troops are ham-strung with their heavy and useless radio networks and equipment. All Nato troops now carry weapons that share 55.6 ammunition in a country where the average contact starts at massive distances. This means that you are dependent on support weapons which are totally alien to the mobility of troops trained for speed and action. The Italians, masters at Alpine terrains and warfare would never acquiesce to allowing their soldiers to be more than shooting ducks in a theatre they practice in their own back yard, or would they? US Marines facing reality

They ought to read this blog, they and their inept and idiotic political masters. I had a US former Marine Sgt work for me in Namibia. He could not understand that his two year enlistment did nowhere equate to that of a 15 year regular soldier. Very few of the lessons in soldiering can be gained from the library of military literature. They are gained in the field, from those who have experienced all that service has to offer. The British made an enormous mistake when, after the Falklands, the major slice of experienced senior nco's were forcibly retired. That single instrument allowed second class senior officers to kowtow to their political masters, with disastrous procurement of everything essential from personal weapons to food, through footwear to transport. When General Jackson and his cronies were feathering their pension pots, the skills and loyalty of the squaddie were evaporating on a maelstrom of political correctness and Health & Safety. I heard not a beep out of th

Call a puffter a name and you are sent to jail. Demand the rightsd of brave Britons to defend themselves and you are outcast and demonised. Come home a phyical wreck and you are worth a passing remark by Broon and his falacious brood. Come home in a pine box and only the wonderful people of Wooton Basset will give you the welcome you deserve. No wonder our kith and kin in Canada and Antipodes emigrated. Nothing is being said about the Christians being burned alive today in India by their Muslim neighbours. What a wonderful world.

She may not have said so by name, but the non-mention of Ssafa and RBL told me and reinforced all my prejudices at soulless, two top heavy institutions they have evolved into. Listening to a Court judge succinctly inform the powers of the mighty Soldiers, Sailor and Air Force Families Association gave me and other witnesses no succour. The simple truth is they have become defunct especially in Lancashire. The communication gap between the all important caseworker and the mandarins in Central Office is wider than that between the electorate and the thieving mongrels at Westminster. What is worse, there is nothing, no viable instrument in place to hold the hierarchy of Ssafa to account. So when I am told by former Royal Marines how proud they are of the leadership of Ssafa I ask if they have ever volunteered. Until they have they should stay stum and listen to those who did.

The answer is no, you are, for allowing these parasites to dictate to you the depths of your misery whilst they PLUG their own shortcomings through their expense claims. Mr Spliff really has SUNK it to the electorate, at our expense. I have heard so much nonesense talked. To kill the expenses debate all there needs is for Westminster to have a travel officer, Black Rod or another, who can issue second class warrents to MP's. Afterall, if a second class warrent is good enough for a soldier, then it must be good enough for an MP. And most soldiers have second homes for which they often have to pay out of their salaries, wages, incomes!!! They are in Afghanistan, Iraq, and the Balkans. The expression parasite seem too tame from a disabled former regular soldier whose pension was stolen by Labour. For any MP to argue that these expenses are within the rule dictates a total moral implosion.

When we think of this brave nation, we have to remember that they are our kin, our family, not Greeks, Latvian, Vietnamese, Russian or Chinese. Apart from the Aboriginals, the first settlers were British. They have altered the language to Strein, bastardised the humour with wonderfully free effect, argued over the Queen as Head of State; but they still remain our cousins, uncles aunts and family. Not exactly the same as this brave man who put his hands on evil explosive devices to render them harmless, so that his comrades can do their tasks. Such brave men have never asked for much and always been ready for the moment. It is why a bootneck was always referred to as an empty bottle.      Why is it most free thinking Britons are incensed by the cacophony of abuse aimed at a legal political party, the BNP, but shy away from recognising that their attitudes give credibility to mass murders? On this weeks Question Time, BBC 1, Thursday evening, every single contributor castigated the English electorate for the growing support for the BNP. Not one actually said that - and I am a lifetime Conservative - the BNP is asking the questions, and probably giving an answer, to many of the fears that they have.

Geert Wilders, rightly or wrongly, has chosen a course of action which offends the Muslim minority in his homeland, and the pinkie liberal effete who would rather betray every aspect of their heritage, to an ideology which promotes the amputation of limbs for petty theft and the discriminatory stoning of women for adultery. If that was enforced in the UK I know of several neighbourhoods that would rapidly be depleted of females whilst the obliging males would have to find other means of sexual gratification. Put this recording of the BBC 4 Choice programme on audio, listen whilst you knit a Union Flag for the troops in Afghanistan, and Iraq, and the Balkans, and in Northern Ireland - Ulster to many of us old farts, and for those taking drugs whilst the government orders those who do not to turn a blind eye. In a letter to Gordon Marsden MP Blackpool, I informed him that the niceties of war have to be suspended as the prevalent 'duty of care' has to be ones own soldiers. He would not engage someone who had fought on three continents and had some experience of similar situations. You never let a stranger within blast distance of a section. If he has to be shot for not getting down on the ground, so-be-it. And the army should be deploying dogs, no matter how it upsets the Pathan. A well trained sniffer dog will save lives. Once the dog starts to react the handler can immediately caller bomber and the troops disperse. Sometimes the dog-handler will misread the situation, but it is not his fault. For those who say that my remarks are fundamentally racist, I say that these are events that have happened, and when I say to my younger relatives that I fear for the future of this once Great Island Nation, they too cannot see what I fear is happening around us. Whilst politicians blindly walk into a hostile future, there is a total reluctance to listen to those who have already been through these events.
