POPSGive Peace a Chance? Not here, not now, it seems Sometimes I wonder what would happen if the "leaders" in Palestine and Israel went to sleep for 20 years - would the ordinary people figure out how to live together in peace? At the least, they could could probably figure out how to speak plainly about what they were doing and why.

POPSNow you know a young Afghani When leaders and people discuss national security, war, strategy, and such - I think it is wise to keep it real with a photo of someone whose life may hang in the balance.

POPSJ Street New Washington, DC Superstar? J Street has grown in influence very quickly. One of the prime reasons, I believe is that in the past 40 years peace never got close to settling the land and right to return questions or how an independent Palestine could be viable. The current 20-40 year old group have very little willingness to go slow about getting to yes. To them a year is a long time. Whether they have staying power is the big question but building momentum for change - yes they have!

POPSUp is Down, Peace is War, Love is Hate - Huh? When you look at how we have made being at war seem nothing more than a video game, is it any wonder that people think the war in Iraq is over, that we are not really at war in Somalia, that Afghanistan is a "good war" like WWII was? I am not sure anymore what it will take for people to wake up to the facts that our economy depends on war, climate suicide and agriculture-based cancers (our steady diet of pesticides and fertilizers in food and water - what do you think is driving pancreatic cancer epidemic?). I do hope that sharing via Amplify helps to dirve real change in not just hand wringing.

POPSFollow the Money - Who Profits from War? You'd think with all the information flowing around the world, that some of the killing would go down. I can't help but wonder if making money off selling arms and ammunition to nearly all comers helps fuel the countless deaths?

POPSWalk for Peace in Pakistan/Afghanistan Few can actually walk for peace in these border lands, if for no other reason than you may get zapped by an American Predator drone. If you can join in spirit or virtually, come along!

POPSObama's New Peace Tool Better than long drug out talks with months of preparation - eh? Let's talk things over and see if we can move forward. Substitute tea and coffee for the beer and this might be a good way to settle things in Palestine and Israel, Iran, Afghanistan, Sudan?

POPSCommute Jason Getsy - Interview An interview with Jason Getsy, scheduled to be executed in early August - Ohio. Parole Board has voted for clemency but Governor Strickland has not yet responded and prosecuting attorney's around the state are asking him to ignore parole board's recommendation. If you want to sign a petition for him, go to http://www.change.org and plug Getsy into the search box.

POPSDolphins do good without even trying - smile Great story of what a young girl learned from an encounter with a dolphin. Wouldn't it be nice if wannabe nature engineers "learned" as much from their encounters with nature. Then we wouldn't really have to worry about alligator-tomato mutants eating Cleveland.

POPSAfghan Upcoming Election Sham? If you read about the divisions in the country and who is paying off whom, you see the election is about looking good but not about democracy, peace, mercy, honor...

POPSPraying the Devil Back to Hell - Redux Those who have committed political crimes when given mercy - try to rekindle the flames of war and hate again and again. That should not stop you from using non-violence to end the violence but it surely tries the soul. Pray that those working for peace have the strength to continue!
