A fantastic column from George Will on they latest doom-and-gloom from the global warming crowd. Of course, they're losing a bit of steam lately. Literally! I was pleased to learn that there will be close to 100 scientists at the upcoming global warming conference who aren't afraid to speak up against the hysteria.

Funny how over time, the global warming scare seems to be just another over-hyped crisis that never existed in the first place. And yet, folks fell for it.

    New Nukular Powah Plants!

President Bush pushing for the real alternative energy choice today: Nuclear energy. It's about time. Even most of the environmentalists are on board with this one. Sure, there will be the hangers-on to the misinformation and scare tactics about the "dangers" of nuclear energy. And there are issues to deal with, because no power source is "perfect." But if we're serious about reducing CO2 emissions and getting off of fossil fuels, this is the best way to go about it right now. Until the next thing comes along. Here here. Bravo.

I don't think this one will make it by the Republicans. And with the demand for hybrid cars in the stratosphere, I can't imagine a low CAFE standard like this even making any difference whatsoever. But if we're growing tons of soybeans and corn, it's at the expense of other crops. And that has made an impact on cows that eat grains, Germans who drink beer (made from barley), and Mexicans who eat tortillas.
