POPSThe US is its Own Terrorist I wrote this August 01, 2006. How appropriate now after Bush's State of the Union. Please see .... http://clipmarks.com/clipmark/FA485DF5-5A4D-4186-BB58-BA93A0C85386/

POPSThe era of the American Internet is ending. “Since passage of the Patriot Act, many companies based outside of the United States have been reluctant to store client information in the U.S.,” said Marc Rotenberg, executive director of the Electronic Privacy Information Center in Washington. “There is an ongoing concern that U.S. intelligence agencies will gather this information without legal process. There is particular sensitivity about access to financial information as well as communications and Internet traffic that goes through U.S. switches.”

POPSAm I a terrorist now?!? Be careful what you read online?!? Damn, I protest this! Sheesh, according to the Patriot Act § 802 and the definitions of domestic terrorism, legitimate protest could be prosecuted as terrorism! I kid you not! Hey, maybe this very clip could put me i Guantanamo! Folks, you'd better not pop this clip or they'll probably accuse you of giving me "material support" and end up in the cage next to mine! Oops, too late, if you've already read this far... Sheesh! Where will it end?!? Oh, well...orange suits me :o( (please send care packages)

POPSThe FBI Does Use Spyware Does the end justify the means? You can imagine that hackers would be celebrating if so-called fedware were allowed. How easy would it be to spoof fedware? --- A recent federal court decision raises the question of whether antivirus companies may intentionally overlook spyware that is secretly placed on computers by police.”

POPSAre you a Patriot or a Loyalist? For anyone who dares to call peaceful protesters wackos or delusional, I would dare to differ and perhaps even call them cowards or traitors. The whole article is worth a read. These considerations would aptly apply to anyone, anywhere and in any country. Always.

POPSMississippi to Ban Feeding the Obese "Freedom fries." How hollow that sounds. The time is 7:15. You are under arrest for breach of the Bacon & Cheese Burger Patriot Act. You have the duty to remain silent (and hungry). Anything you say, can and will be tortured out of you. You do not have the right to an attorney. None will be afforded to you. Now lay down those onion rings and put your greasy hands behind your back!!

POPS‘It’s just a goddamned piece of paper’ Put aside, for a moment, political affiliation or personal beliefs. It doesn’t matter if you are a Democrat, Republican or Independent. It doesn’t matter if you support the invasion or Iraq or not. Despite our differences, the Constitution has stood for two centuries as the defining document of our government, the final source to determine “in the end ” if something is legal or right. Every federal official - including the President - who takes an oath of office swears to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States.” WHAT IS GLARINGLY OBVIOUS IS THE OUR "LEADERS" DON'T BELIEVE IN THE CONSTITUTION

POPSFBI's response "a colossal overreaction". Typical now in US. Why the FBI chose to pursue this case is unclear, but Kurtz's supporters are convinced that it was an intentional attempt to punish an artist who is critical of the government's authoritarian tendency. As Nature magazine put it: "It seems that government lawyers are singling Kurtz out as a warning to the broader artistic community". Perhaps, as far as the FBI is concerned, a science experiment posing as politically-motivated art is a form of terrorism. ... Guardian Science and art aren't redneck fundamentalist notions of a good American.

POPSI Want My Country Back "I love America, and I can't stand quietly by while the land of peace and liberty is being destroyed. I love the America of the Constitution and limited government - not the America of the Patriot Act and the Orwellian Department of Homeland Security. I love the America that Washington and Jefferson said should be far removed from all the age-old quarrels of Europe and Asia, while trading benevolently with people all over the world - not the America that has troops in a hundred countries while our own government prohibits us from peaceful trading with dozens of countries."

POPSWelcome to America...You're Under Arrest I had visions of Guantanamo in my head, and I became almost dizzy with the adrenaline rush of fear. I thought that I must have been mistaken for someone else, God knows who, and there would be no chance to clear my name. I can't begin to imagine the fear. As a non-American I can only say, I also fear travelling to or through the U.S. The story of the Islandic woman's ordeals doesn't help either. Does anyone else feel apprehensive these days travelling to the U.S, or I am the only one? :(

POPSYou're Scaring Me, Obama: Let the Bush Years Die
And then there's Robert Gates, widely rumored to be staying on as your Defense Secretary. Questions about Gates' role in Iran-Contra, not to mention his skewing of intelligence about Russia, still linger. But especially disturbing is his recent push for beefing up the US nuclear arsenal: "As long as other nations have or seek nuclear weapons - and can potentially threaten us, our allies and friends - then we must have a deterrent capacity that makes it clear that challenging the United States in the nuclear arena, or with weapons of mass destruction, could result in an overwhelming, catastrophic response. While we're on the topic of warmongers in your midst. Rahm Emanuel as Chief of Staff? Yet another hawk, hell-bent on Iran and enamored with nuclear weapons. And now we've got Clinton as Secretary of State. Why is it that none of the 23 senators and 133 House Reps who voted against the war in Iraq are even on a short-list for these critical posts?

POPSSinister Plot To Bilk U.S. Taxpayers a $7.4 Trillion Success! It should be noted that the amount of money pledged is equivalent to $24,000 for every man, woman and child in the country. It’s nine times what the U.S. has spent so far on wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to Congressional Budget Office figures. It could pay off more than half the country’s mortgages.

POPS"Court Declares Part of the Patriot Act 'Unconstitutional'" continues: Because of the ruling, the government will now be forced to justify individual gag orders before a court, instead of casually wielding the power of a blanket gag as the Bush administration has done since the blindingly fast passage of the Patriot Act in Oct. 2001.

POPSThe Late, Great American Nation "Think about some of the changes that have already moved us closer to a police state: the invasive USA Patriot Act; the increased domestic surveillance of citizens' emails and telephone calls; attempts to deny habeas corpus to prisoners; a national ID card; and now this alarming new law. In addition to opening the doors to a military state, the law also facilitates militarized police round-ups and detaining of protesters in detention camps that are already being built on American soil by the Halliburton corporation. Americans are incredibly naive if they believe those camps being built are just for illegal aliens."

POPSHindu Terrorist Cell in India Arrested 2 Days Before Mumbai Attacks! And the counter-terrorism chief in India who was investigating the Hindu terrorists was (too conveniently) killed in the Mumbai attacks, two days after this report! Have we found perhaps the non-Islamic true perpetrators who have a motive? Hey, this is from the Washington Post, and it goes on to report this: Police say that most of the 10 have been associated with or have attended meetings of a little-known group called Abhinav Bharat, or "New India," which is under scrutiny on suspicion of plotting the Malegaon bombing. Why not investigate them for the Mumbai attacks? Meanwhile, the India government is pointing fingers toward (Islamic) Pakistan instead of Hindus despite these recent arrests! Hindus are the majority in India and among the "conservative" political wing there pushing for war and a Homeland Security and PATRIOT Act laws.
