POPSU.S. Financial Aid To Israel: Figures, Facts, and Impact In addition, there is the more than $1.5 billion in private U.S. funds that go to Israel annually in the form of $1 billion in private tax-deductible donations and $500 million in Israeli bonds. Total U.S. aid to Israel is approximately one-third of the American foreign-aid budget, even though Israel comprises just .001 percent of the world's population and already has one of the world's higher per capita incomes. With a per capita income of about $14,000, Israel ranks as the sixteenth wealthiest country in the world; Israelis enjoy a higher per capita income than oil-rich Saudi Arabia and are only slightly less well-off than most Western European countries.

POPSISRAEL A DEMOCRACY? BY WHAT STANDARDS As controversial as Mr. Richard Falk may appear, should any democracy be in the business of banning activists of the UN and the world? But then again, Israel in no Democracy and will not be one as long as segregation is practiced.

POPSMedical Student Burnout and the Challenge to Patient Care
Even surgical residency, despite the relentlessly long hours, seemed so much closer to what I wanted to do. Some of my professors tried to “humanize” the process. They invited us to dinner in their homes, supported our extracurricular efforts to set up health screening clinics in low-income neighborhoods, and tried to make our basic science courses more relevant to working with patients. But sitting where I am now, as someone who teaches medical students and who loves helping others as a doctor, I can understand the challenge they faced. Given the fire hose of information medical students must learn in just four years, how does one ever gently take a sip? Despite my teachers’ efforts, I was about as miserable in medical school as I had ever been. I felt alone. Neither I nor my classmates could admit to failure, and the last thing I wanted to do was to let anyone but my closest friends know just how unhappy I was. Success in medical school was the first step to a future of helping

POPSTomorrow I start the best job in the world. I worked as a teacher for 14 years at Grangewood School (a wonderful little special school) until alcohol started ruining my life. Now eight years on and six months sober I am returning in a different capacity; as an intervenor for a lovely six year old lad who is deaf-blind and mentally impaired. I can't wait to get started. :-)

POPSInterventionism, Not Muslims, Is the Problem
Thus, rather than ceasing its policy of interventionism after 9/11, which is what the U.S. government should have done even while pursuing the perpetrators through criminal-justice means, it did the very worst thing possible — it continued and even expanded its policy of interventionism in the hope of killing those whose differences with America’s values had risen to the level of rage as a result of U.S. interventionism. Not surprisingly, that only fueled more anger and rage. So, what should the U.S. government do now? It should do what it should have done after 9/11: Exit Afghanistan and Iraq and the entire Middle East. Bring all the troops home. Everyone seems to know this, but America. I read a lot of hate against Muslims on CM and I find that highly troubling. It's a crock. Muslims DON'T hate us, they are NOT the enemy and if the US just left other countries alone, the "War on Terror" would be over. Don't buy into it.. Bring the troops home.

POPSThe English to text message translator The kind of text used by a 12 year old to send text messages. The translator wont work on the clip but there is the link at the top. A few translations show how handy it can be, but I must admit I don't send enough text messages to know much of the jargon.

POPSFinally, Rudy's 9/11 Lies are Being Exposed I've been waiting impatiently, for Mr. Giuliani's lies to begin catching up with him. He has been running all over the country claiming to be an "expert on terrorism," and Islamofascism. Some voters, outside the New York metropolitan area, are falling for his story hook, line and sinker. But now, his own words given during testimony he gave to the 9/11 commission are leaking into the media, and it tells a very different story. It presents a person who knows virtually nothing about terrorism, al Qaeda or bin Laden. He proves the falsity of his claims concerning the inadequate radios his fire fighters were forced to use that fateful day, along with other information that paints a very different picture from the one he has been unveiling for the public during the campaign.
