POPSThe 14 characteristics of a fascist society Dr. Lawrence Britt, a political scientist, wrote an article about fascism which appeared in Free Inquiry magazine, a journal of humanist thought. Dr. Britt studied the fascist regimes of Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain), Suharto (Indonesia), and Pinochet (Chile). He found the regimes all had 14 things in common, and he calls these the identifying characteristics of fascism. The article is titled "Fascism Anyone?," and appears in Free Inquiry’s Spring 2003 issue on page 20.

My hat is off to people in places such as Egypt who brave the potentially dire consequences in order to spread the truth. Their words will hopefully lead to more democratic, free societies in places that have for so long kept their people bottled up.

POPSFOX forced to apologise for THIRD TIME in TWO Weeks The apology comes just over a week after one of Fox's anchormen expressed regret for a comment on the night that Obama won the Democratic nomination. Obama, in a show of affection, lightly touched his fist against Michelle's and the anchorwoman referred to it as a "terrorist fist jab". Previously, a Fox contributor Liz Trotta had to apologise after making a joke about Obama being assassinated. The trio of apologies is embarrassing for Fox. Murdoch last month praised Obama but stopped short of endorsing him, though his New York Post came out for Obama in January.

He has been running all over the country claiming to be an "expert on terrorism," and Islamofascism. Some voters, outside the New York metropolitan area, are falling for his story hook, line and sinker. But now, his own words given during testimony he gave to the 9/11 commission are leaking into the media, and it tells a very different story. It presents a person who knows virtually nothing about terrorism, al Qaeda or bin Laden. He proves the falsity of his claims concerning the inadequate radios his fire fighters were forced to use that fateful day, along with other information that paints a very different picture from the one he has been unveiling for the public during the campaign.

The faces and names in office may change, but make sure the dictatorial laws change too. These elections, DEMAND change! If not, then the US really will get the government they deserve...

POPSThe Right Was Right Now that the elections are over we can all focus on what really matters: calling each other names. This time around we have someone on the Right pretending to be someone on the Left and thence presenting the Democrat's "new manifesto" to Congress. I figured this would be pretty stupid... and it is. But it's so patently absurd that it actual moves into the realm of humour. Afterthought: It's either that or someone really on the Left making fun of people on the Right for their paranoia about what will happen when the "godless, heathen, french-hippie communists" take over. I didn't bother to do enough research. Either way, enjoy. Or don't.

POPSAmerica is Hungry for Change The number of Democrats turning out is certainly impressive. And while the Dems opted for change it seems the Republicans are satisfied with the status quo. Keep appealing to that neo-con base during elections and generally ignore them the rest of the year. It seems everyone except the neo-cons are laughing at the naked emperor.

POPSWhy has Congress failed Americans? I add emphasis on the words the two-party duopoly's grip on the US-American political system . I'd like to learn something about actual endeavors to change this political system. Also I'd like to know, whereby the rinky-dink voter turnout of US-American elections is caused. Is it for instance, because too many citizens muddle politics and political elections with entertainment ? If this is the case: 1) What's your developmental-psychological age, American people? 2) Why are you so discontented with the results of your latest elections?

POPSAri Fleischer and his crew are dripping with panic Fleischer and his group Freedom's Watch are not only using the overworked and phony connection between the Iraq war and the 9/11 attacks, but they are aiming at their own Republicans who are fleeing the president's Iraq strategy. They are so panicked that Bush is going to be forced into a corner in September, that they are actually trying to intimidate members of their own party with the same bullshit rhetoric and advertising they used to manipulate and scare voters in the past two elections. Ari and his group should be totally ashamed to exploit our wounded and killed vets in such a crass political game.
