POPSRacist Undertones Of The 'Socialist' Epithet
More From The Article: Take another black leader, another society fraught by racial division. In 1956, Nelson Mandela and 155 other antiapartheid activists were arrested by the South African government under the infamous Suppression of Communism Act of 1950, a law that was used gratuitously to incarcerate anyone who was critical of the government. The treason trial that followed resulted in a 1961 acquittal for all those involved, the government unable to prove any "socialist" intentions. But the political equation of black activists as "communists" would continue up through the 1980s. The Reagan administration egregiously soft-pedaled the issue of apartheid on the basis of the South African government's purported anticommunist stance. Indeed, the South African government itself viewed its policies not as racist, but as anticommunist. Only popular pressure through a global antiapartheid movement persuaded the US to isolate South Africa. It takes the cry of "socialism!" liter

POPSHuckabee AIDS comment alarms victim's mom Huckabee outlined his views in 1992 for the AP more than a year after President George H.W. Bush, a fellow Republican, urged an audience of business executives not to fire or otherwise discriminate against employees infected with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. I would love to see him try and explain himself to this woman.

POPSNew Challenge to Roe vs Wade and Birth control Just can't win. If your in a position where you do not have the ability to care for a child and have to make an extremely hard choice. But no matter what choice you make , you get slammed. If she decides to abort she is a monster. If she decides to keep the child even though she would have to go on welfare to do it , she's a drain on society. And those who would be the most damning towards these women for either case are those who have never or will never have to make this kind of choice or live with the attitudes of the self righteous later.

POPSState's Secrets dodge may be given limits Adopted after the Watergate scandal, FISA dictates when the government must get permission from a secret court to monitor electronic communications inside the United States. It also allows people who believe they were spied on illegally to sue the government for damages and to request materials that would prove the surveillance. If the attorney general says disclosure would harm national security, a district court may review the classified materials privately to determine if the surveillance was illegal.

POPSBoston police wants permission to search without a warrant Davis said the program doesn't aim to incarcerate people. He said police won't search the homes of teenagers suspected in shootings or homicides whom investigators are trying to prosecute. If officers find drugs, it will be up to them whether to make an arrest. But police said modest amounts of drugs like marijuana will simply be confiscated. I think parents are able to search their own kids rooms without the help of Boston police.

POPSUS Army reiterates Waterboarding is prohibited "However, at Senate confirmation hearings last month, then-attorney general nominee Michael Mukasey repeatedly refused to say whether he considers waterboarding a form of torture, as claimed by an unlikely coalition of military officials, doctors and humans rights groups" Who listens to doctors anyway?

POPSRadical, peace activists I clipped just the title because this is the second time I've seen the term "Radical" used to describe peace activists. (Possibly for this bunch it may be warranted as they claim they will use force to defend themselves.) The first time I saw the term used was by O'Reily on Fox in which he was referring to CodePink. Funny Enough when I went back to wbz to clipp this , it had been removed. It wasn't in the site search either. I had to back page to find it again.( Not the first time either, they did the same thing with the article on Chenney fallling asleep during a meeting on the Cal wildfires) I am wondering if this is going to become a trend with the media, labeling peace activists "Radical extremists"
