The Coming Insurrection - A leftist call to arms
    willhelm
    by willhelm  7-1-2009    4
I'm telling you..these people are nuts. Fascists, Communists, Progressives..whatever. They are the same thing and they are twisted idiots. More from article: Hot-wired to the movement of '77 in Italy, its preferred historical reference point, The Coming Insurrection formulates an ethics that takes as its starting point theft, sabotage, the refusal to work, and the elaboration of collective, self-organized forms-of-life. It is a philosophical statement that addresses the growing number of those"in France, in the United States, and elsewhere"who refuse the idea that theory, politics, and life are separate realms.

    Standing Up to Conservative Bullying
    gingembre
    by gingembre  6-25-2007    3
Here's a bit more to explain the brinkmanship and absolutism: "Brinkmanship is being used to force the federal government to write a blank cheque for the pipeline, and indemnify Exxon against ecological disasters and further cost increases..." "Absolutism (Bush-style "you're either with us or you're with the terrorists" framing) is being used to bully Canada into committing to keep our troops in the midst of the anarchy and civil war in Afghanistan. The PR from the military is increasingly using the term 'enemy' to describe anyone in Afghanistan who opposes the continued presence of foreign troops in their country. The ideologically rabid Harper Conservative minority government routinely uses the "if you don't support our war, you don't support our troops" line to disparage anti-war groups. And today a military spokesman lambasted the Canadian media for daring to publicize opinion polls showing Canadians' strong opposition to the war, saying it was "demoralizing our troops".

Counterintuitive physics may help everyone drive home quicker
    Silkweaver
    by Silkweaver  10-2-2008
The second concept, the Nash equilibrium, occurs when an individual cannot choose a better strategy for himself if other individuals keep their strategies unchanged (i.e. an individual can not improve his situation by changing unilaterally). In the traffic situation, say you know which routes the other drivers take, maybe because you’ve tried different routes to find out which is the fastest way to get home from work. After trying different routes, you choose the route that is fastest for yourself. Then you cannot find a faster route as long as the other drivers stick to their same routes (which they do, because they cannot find faster routes, either). But if many drivers could change their routes simultaneously, then the effect might be a decrease in everyone’s travel time, and society would come closer to the social optimum rather than languishing in the Nash equilibrium. The scientists found that modifying the network structure can sometimes lead to faster overall travel times,

continuing: Any objective observer with the barest awareness of contemporary history should be able to readily trace the rise of this powerful movement that has taken control of the reins of power in the United States. The most blatant initial historical record is when Grandpa Prescott Bush and some of his cronies tried to entice General Smedley Butler to muster enough World War I veterans to take over the Presidency of The United States in 1933. Then again, in 1942 (a year after World War II was declared), Prescott Bush and this same cabal -- in their drive toward fascism -- were finally forced by the "Trading With the Enemy Act" to terminate their extensive business dealings with Hitler. After WWII, this American branch of the Nazis didn't lose the war, they just transformed the battleground. They expanded their "connections" with Hitler's intelligence networks from The War into the formation of our own CIA. It is also this same group that President Eisenhower opaquely identified

Unknowingly prisoners of their own egotism, they feel insecure, lonely, and deprived of the naive, simple and unsophisticated enjoyment of life. Man can find meaning in life, short and perilous as it is, only through devoting himself to society. The economic anarchy of capitalist society as it exists today is, in my opinion, the real source of evil. (Albert Einstein, 1949)

Then people starting jumping over the barricade at foot of the Capitol steps and 200 people were arrested. Police pepper sprayed numerous onlookers who were only observing the events. About 50 feet from my husband the police had thrown a 57 year old Vietnam Vet down on the ground and proceeded to arrest him, unknowing they had crushed the man’s pacemaker and he had a heart attack on the balcony of the Capital building where they were holding the arrested protesters until busses came. The EMT’s were unable to revive him, resulting in the man’s death.

    Bush As The Joker
    merrie
    by merrie  8-4-2009    2
Obama’s predecessor endured 8 Years of Assassination Fascination. Actually, the “Assassinate Bush Chic” began even before the 2000 election, when Craig Kilborn flashed “snipers wanted” under a picture of Bush. So-called “newsmen” like Keith Olbermann repeatedly called the president “a fascist” and “a terrorist.” And Obama supporters can’t handle The Joker and the word “Socialism”? Politics is ugly, and it is often over-the-top but that’s not new. Photoshop happens; it’s a free country. I myself have been photoshopped next to a dancing condom, a commentary on my annoying habit of being a Catholic. Bob Owens amuses himself thusly: Frankly, I don’t get it. One embraces terrorists and madmen, is dedicated to anarchy and the destruction of capitalist society, and sends the population fleeing in horror from his creations. The other is a fictional character played by the late Heath Ledger. http://michellemalkin.com/2009/08/04/how-quickly-they-forget/

Lesson: Starved Sarajevo, Starving Gaza - both Muslin. Ok

    by righthand  8-31-2007    1
The effects of the siege are disastrous. Palestinians in Gaza are not allowed to travel abroad. They cannot enter Israel for work. They do not fish off the coast because Israeli gunboats open fire at any vessels that are more than a mile offshore. Gaza has seen 75 percent of its factories closed since June, with the loss of 68,000 jobs, according to the World Bank. There is a 70 percent unemployment rate, and 1.1 million of the 1.5 million Palestinians in Gaza depend on U.N. assistance to survive. The boycott has forced the United Nations to suspend $93 million worth of construction projects for homes, schools and sewage treatment in Gaza because cement and other building supplies have run out. These UN projects once employed 121,000 people. About 80%t of the Palestinians in Gaza survive on $2 a day. Basic foodstuffs such as milk powder, baby formula, vegetable oil and medical supplies are running out.... www.truthdig.com

Senlis Council: Did the Bush Gang get anything right?

"The US is the common denominator in both countries – instead of containing the extremist elements in Somalia and Afghanistan, US policies have facilitated the expansion of territory that al-Shabab and the Taliban have psychological control over." Aid groups say Somalia, wracked by anarchy and violence for decades, is suffering its worst humanitarian crisis since 1993. According to Lazzarini, the UN head of humanitarian affairs for Somalia, 2.5 million people are in need of food or other aid. Against this grim backdrop, the Senlis Council, in its 79-page report, directly accused the US of undermining reconciliation efforts by backing the hardline president, Abdullahi Yusuf, instead of the more moderate prime minister, Nur Hassan Hussein. According to the security thinktank, the US government in February disrupted negotiations with opposition parties - including hardline Islamists - by exerting pressure on the prime minister to exclude certain groups and individuals from a rec

Episode 1 of 2 (BC) and 1 of 3 (AD). Fascinating new understandings of British culture, history, and archaeology. Rather than being solely the inheritors of Roman, Anglo-Saxon, and Norman invaders, Pryor demonstrates that there was a sophisticated homegrown British culture that didn't just roll over when the next group of heavily-armed foreigners in boats showed up. And that in the absence of outside "civilizers" Britons didn't just revert to mud-wallowing barbarians.

This is laughable. Once again the U.N. tried to soak developed nations. And they warn anarchy will grip the 3rd world. Hello.... Anarchy already rules the 3rd world, and always has. Look at the corrupt "representatives" they send to the U.N. Look at their corrupt (and sometimes cannibal) leaders. Look at the kingdoms of the Middle East. If that isn't anarchy, I don't know what anarchy is.

Helen Thomas appears to be the only member of the media who believes we should all be aware of what is going on behind our backs. In fact, what's going on right in front of our faces while Bush and his scourging cabal thumb their noses at us. Torture has been mentioned briefly by anchors and news sources but then it fades away... The fact that we have used this hellish force on fellow human beings, is something that should never fade. I can't do much, for that matter almost nothing but whenever I can call attention to this dreadful act, I will! I'll spread the word or feelings from the rooftops (or maybe just youtube) about how abominable torture is. But what is even more frightening than torture is that we Americans, have elected leaders who not only use this immoral practice but hold it up as a useful tool touting "the end justifies the means". I think it's more like an end to society and the beginning of anarchy. Also watch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISuY0o1Hxno
