POPSBefore They Spoiled the Software iTunes has always been bloated and buggy on windows. All of the other media players are bloated but generally work alright. IMHO The last good version of ACDsee was version 3. The best picture manager now is Picasa. Adobe Reader has always been rubbish. Version 4 does run faster, but FoxIt Reader is the better alternative.

POPSMallowsmores Instructions are available at the website. There are too many steps to clip to clipmarks.

POPSTecktonik Dance and the BTW at the End The article is about how a new form of dance has emerged in Paris. It is a kind of mix of hip hop dancing with other styles. What amuses me is the very last line of the article where the club owner says he is looking to trademark the compilations. He says music compilations but seems to leave it open that he will want to trademark the name of the dance and possibly the moves themselves. Yet another example of a greedy businessman looking to cash in on what is, for the time being, a fun fad.

POPSFirefox 3 Mockups and Notes They are really making some major changes to the Firefox browser. The integration of tagging seems to be the best of the changes, though most power users have already moved bookmarks to online services like del.icio.us. The notes on the mockup for the tagging UI are particularly amusing. I guess some people don't know what or how to tag bookmarks? I just hope they don't sacrifice speed and the ability to customize easily in the name of gaining a few stupid newbie users. Also, I don't want them screwing up keyword functions in the URL bar with the stupid domain highlighting garbage. I use the URL bar as a customized search bar so that I have only one bar at the top of the browser. Right now I guess it is just wait and see. I haven't checked to find out when the first real solid release candidate is due out.

POPSEvolution of the Nano The whole point of the Nano was to replace the iPod mini. It is supposed to be small while still providing an LCD display to pick songs. People who want to squint at movies on iPods usually buy the bigger models. IMHO the Nano should be all about music. They've ruined it. It is clunky and ugly. Where is the intermediate size between the screenless Shuffle and the big iPods now? I really hope they bring out something to fill the gap.
