POPS33 Reasons why libraries/librarians are important I actually dislike a surprising number of these 33 reasons. There's a lot of negativity, and a lot of put downs directed at the internet. Regardless of how librarians may feel about the internet, many of our patrons will continue to see it as a useful and reliable source of information. I don't know that any amount of advocacy will ever change that.

POPSDewey Decimals and DDR - Gaming in the Libraries Librarians aren't just checking out games (b/c they can't compete with Blockbuster)...they're arranging social meetings...contests. I wonder if we could do something similar with other library services? I know there's often hobby meeting groups (like knitting club)... I wonder if there's some way to do the same kind of contest/ meet-up for adults at the library.

POPSBuying a Dyson doesn't fit with my "image" Can we apply this to libraries as well? People don't frequent them, even though they could be getting all their books/DVDs/CDs for free instead of spending money on them, simply because they don't see themselves as a person who "goes to the library" Very interesting

POPSOnline Presence Mashup Kind of a creepy idea... the online content of bloggers/twitterers/flickerers/pandora-users etc could, conceivably, be added to the units of a single mashup page... so there could be all the bits of your life on the web congregated there in one tidy package. Perhaps a bit too intimate.
