POPSMiltant Atheism on the March! Al is back! This label of the militant atheist for nonviolent authors and speakers is asinine mudslinging. So stop using the term already, or else… Please watch the whole thing before inserting the standard "But Stalin..." BS.

POPSWhat One Atheist Believes Al is back with another vid. I was having an argument with someone on the Internet, and they asked me, as an atheist, what exactly do I believe in? (It is a common misconception that atheists have no beliefs, or no moral beliefs, at all.) So I made this video.

POPSNational Christopher Hitchens Week I was going to clip a few of these separately, but it would be redundant. As a few clippers have noticed, atheism has gained some popularity recently, and Chris Hitchens is the latest to ride that wave. Mr. Hitchens is slightly different than Richard Dawkins and Sam Harris, which is nice to see. Hitchens is actually pro Iraq War and has recently become an American citizen (he's English). The online debate with Doug Wilson looks promising. BTW, It's not really National Christopher Hitchens week. It's just that everywhere you go, there's Hitchens.

POPSThe Credit We Deserve We live in a society that is very open to the possibility of an afterlife, and never really questions or scrutinizes it as a claim. Ghost stories, mediums’ platitudes, religious doctrines and past-life-regression anecdotes are banded about without restrain or criticism. It is this apathy towards the question of an afterlife that creates an environment in which human life is so utterly devalued as to be considered expendable.

POPSThe Atheist Terrorist
Theists who sell hate for a living like to use the term to refer to people who write books challenging religious beliefs and who file court briefs, as if these are somehow comparable to bombs and guns. They love to use the word 'militant' because it feeds fear to the listener. These people understand how politically useful fear can be. But theirs is a rhetoric of hate - a quest for power through deception and manipulation. The proof is found in the absurdity in saying that people who write books against violence and who file court briefs are 'militant'. Anybody who says such a thing must love promoting fear over truth. In spite of this rhetorical fear-mongering, it violates no principle of logic or nature for an actual militant atheist to exist. All it takes is one person learning the wrong lessons as he reads and hears what others say, a particular set of ideas that striking a particular mind in the wrong way, and we get a story like the one that started this blog entry[/qu

POPSSam Harris: Yahweh Belongs on the Scrapheap of Mythology I’d like to begin this exchange by making the observation that “atheist” is a term that should not even exist. We do not, after all, have a name for a person who does not believe in Zeus or Thor. In fact, we are all “atheists” with respect to Zeus and Thor and the thousands of other dead gods that now lie upon the scrapheap of mythology. ... Did someone around the time of Constantine discover that the pagan gods do not actually exist, while the biblical God does? Of course not. There are thousands of gods that were once worshipped with absolute conviction by men and women like ourselves, and yet we all now agree that they are rightly dead. An “atheist” is simply someone who thinks that the God of Abraham should be buried with the rest of these imaginary friends. I am quite sure that we need only use words like “reason,” “common sense,” “evidence,” and “intellectual honesty” to do the job.

POPSGod's dupes Moderate believers give cover to religious fanatics -- and are every bit as delusional.
