Gitmo Detainees to Work as Wal-Mart Greeters
    chestnut501
    by chestnut501  6-16-2009    8
The "Gitmo to Greet Mo'" program bypasses maximum-security federal penitentiaries located all over the United States and instead pays for jihadists' food and housing and provides them work. The thinking is that terrorists will not want to blow up America if they get to experience first-hand how nice and welcoming Americans are. However, this scenario will create a whole new set of terrorists: old ladies who lost their jobs to terrorists.

Programmers say the craziest things in their code
    Kore7
    by Kore7  10-14-2006    2
With the new Google Code Search tool suddenly exposing millions of lines of previously obscure code to the public, I decided to try to find the most embarrassing comments possible that are now out in the open for all to see. Even knowing what types of comments developers leave in their code, I was still a bit mortified to find out just what shameful secrets Google has exposed overnight. (And you should see the R-rated examples.) One blogger compared Google Code Search to reading the great "bathroom wall" of programming. Feel dirty? embryo-0.9.0/src/bin/embryo_main.c 3: /* This is ugly code! don't look at it please! i am embarrassed! i need to */ /* cleanit up! */

Good Agile, Bad Agile (or Why Google is Unstoppable)
    Kore7
    by Kore7  10-10-2006
Steve Yegge on the benefits and mostly drawbacks of agile programming. Probably the most interesting portion is his insider's look into the development atmosphere at Google, where a controlled type of agile programming runs rampant, with huge results. Oh and did he menion the perks? And there are still other incentives; the list goes on and ON and ON ; the perks are over the top, and the rewards are over the top, and everything there is so comically over the top that you have no choice, as an outsider, but to assume that everything the recruiter is telling you is a baldfaced lie, because there's no possible way a company could be that generous to all of its employees, all of them, I mean even the contractors who clean the micro-kitchens, they get these totally awesome "Google Micro-Kitchen Staff" shirts and fleeces.

    Internet censorship??
    kkcapricorn
    by kkcapricorn  8-3-2007    3
A powerful Senate committee wants government regulators to find cutting edge technologies that can censor audio and video that flows over the internet, through cable, or into an iPhone to help make sure the nation's small children never see a naked breast or hear Howard Stern without parental permission. The idea is to turbo charge the V-Chip, a government mandate that requires television makers to include a chip that parents can used to filter shows. Here we go........

Obama's Glorified HealthCare Infomercial Anchored By ABC From White House
    merrie
    by merrie  6-16-2009    2
I believe that the President should have the ability to speak directly to the America people. However, I find it outrageous that ABC would prohibit our Party's opposing thoughts and ideas from this national debate, which affects millions of ABC viewers. In the absence of opposition, I am concerned this event will become a glorified infomercial to promote the Democrat agenda. If that is the case, this primetime infomercial should be paid for out of the DNC coffers. President Obama does not hold a monopoly on health care reform ideas or on free airtime. The President has stated time and time again that he wants a bipartisan debate. Therefore, the Republican Party should be included in this primetime event, or the DNC should pay for your airtime. Respectfully, Ken McKay Republican National Committee Chief of Staff Developing...
