This site is fabulous and one of my favourites. When you get tired, why not just lean back and let someone else do the reading for a change. LOTS of stuff here, to make you smarter. Go rummage through the titles. Tons of stuff for FREE and all downloadable. :) I clipped just a few titles at the end (until I ran out of characters) to show you what sort of stuff they offer. Enjoy! .:)

    Welcome to the Clipiversity
    egoldstein
    by egoldstein  5-1-2007    23
We were talking recently about how much we learn each day from reading clips on the site. I won't speak for anyone else, but i definitely have learned more from the clips that you all have posted than i did in high school, college and law school combined. Sad, but true. So, Skiff set out to create a fun podcast that highlights some of the interesting clips we find each day. It also gives us an opportunity to weigh in on them. Now you can sit back and listen to highlights from clipmarks on the clipiversity podcast...and don't worry, there will be no pop quizzes...get it, pop ;)

RABBI MICHAEL LERNER: Well-- I'm hoping we have a few more years here. And I think in the 21st Century the growing wisdom of the American people and of all people is that our well being depends on the well being of everyone else on the planet, and I think that the Israeli population increasingly are coming to understand that their well being depends on the well being of Palestinians and of the Arab world. That there's that fundamental interdependence.

    Execution as human sacrifice
    kmcolo
    by kmcolo  12-15-2007    15
A very interesting interview with historian Thomas Cahill where he argues that execution, which shows no deterrent qualities, is not punishment but is likely a deeply held, ancient behavioral need to kill that was acted out in ancient societies as human sacrifices.

    Doctorow's "Excuse Network" becomes real
    ericskiff
    by ericskiff  10-25-2007    2
Cory Doctorow featured a distributed excuse network exactly like this in his short story I, Robot. You can read or listen to the podcast of the story for free here: http://craphound.com/000189.html In Doctorow's version, you called the number, said what you wanted said, specified who should say it (adult male, etc), and what number they should call. Once in a while, you got a call to do the same. There's nothing to stop this from becoming real, and apparently it's starting to! With an asterix PBX as the hub, you could even easily spoof the number the call was coming from.

Science and Hinduism | Interview with physicist V.V. Raman on "Speaking of Faith"
    enbar
    by enbar  11-13-2006    1
The notion of a conflict between science and religion is dependent on a heavily Christian conception of what religion really is. Interview with a Hindu physicist. Speaking of Faith has a weekly podcast on religion. Always very good. Call ++1 (510) 495-6326 to listen to the most recent episode (thanks Socratoad !).
