Why I use Clipmarks
I Love the convenience of saving the "important" part of articles which I enjoy.
I appreciate the wealth of knowledge on eclectic topics which is available on clipmarks. Glad that I'm a clipper......I end up spending more time on this site every week. I am meeting some really nice people too. It is sad to see that the media cannot be trusted; the truth is out there -- but who's truth?

Google poised to become your phone company
kkcapricorn
by kkcapricorn  11-13-2009
Though still in invite-only mode, Google Voice has about 580,000 active users and nearly 1.5 million registered users, according to a Google filing with the FCC. If you are interested in the combination, you might want to sign up for Gizmo5 before the acquisition is formally announced, since Google often freezes new registrations at companies it acquires until it figures out how to integrate the technology. !

The Web has evolved. It used to be a place where people came to just search for simple information. Now it’s a place where people come to also share information. Information today that is multi-media and more complex. Information today that is real-time and social – recommended by people who know, and people you know.

Sleep Amnesia: Why Do We Forget Our Dreams?
kkcapricorn
by kkcapricorn  11-9-2009
The Mind in Sleep: Psychology and Psychophysiology mentions dream kinesthesia as a potential suspect. It happens when we lose the physical movements in our sleep as soon as we physically move after waking up (such as when we reach for the alarm clock). Another possibility is that our memories are formed through repetition and finding connections to other parts of our lives. So when dreams are especially unique (read: crazy) or too undefined to be relatable, it’s harder to tie them to real-life events and remember them. Christof Koch, points out the incongruity between our brains’ being so active during REM sleep (the deep-sleep stage in our sleep cycles) and only vaguely recalling dream details when we awaken. brain waves that roll through during deep sleep may impede information processing. This is a more scientific approach to the brain-recall conundrum.

How to Bypass “This video is not available in your country”
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  11-8-2009    5
Both workarounds above are brilliant and work like a charm. Also, if someone posts a youtube on CM, for example, and I get the dreaded *not available in your country" message, you can't even see what the youtube was supposed to be! So, to get around that, I just do a Google search for the youtube URL itself and the top search result will tell you the title and exactly what video they want to keep from you. Then I just paste that title into youtube's search box and voila! .:D I hope this will help others who also HATE that damned *not available* message. Enjoy. .:) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pXWTG7XzH4

Watch out for the trolls, but don't take your eye off of the road
clip-on-tie
by clip-on-tie  10-31-2009    3
Trollstigen is closed during the fall and winter months. A normal opening season stretches from the middle of May to October, but may sometimes be shorter or longer due to changes in the weather conditions, or unexpected trolls of course. In the summer of 2005 the road was repaired and about 16 million NOK was spent on protection against rockfall, making the road a lot safer to drive on....that is unless you aren't watching closely......for the trolls.....bwahahahahahaha......

Flu Alert: 10 Warning Signs to Call the Doctor
kkcapricorn
by kkcapricorn  10-24-2009
People at higher risk for severe illness include pregnant women, young children, and adults with chronic illnesses or weak immune systems. Those of us caring for older adults feel particularly worried, because seniors are generally at high risk for getting very sick from seasonal influenza. The H1N1 strain is a little different in this respect; adults over 60 seem to be somewhat protected from it. Still, when older adults get sick, we need to watch them carefully to make sure it’s not developing into something more serious.

Nurturing Coincidence
kkcapricorn
by kkcapricorn  10-24-2009
People who are sensitive to events and stimuli around them will be sensitive to coincidences sent from the universe. The most powerful and unusual stimuli will naturally draw your attention. Those are the things in your environment you need to look at most closely. And the more unlikely the coincidence, the more potent the clue. More coincidences provide more clues to guide our behavior. We start to enjoy more opportunities. We have more “good luck.” These clues point out the direction to take our lives.
