Unfortunately, it's only present in the top few millimeters of the surface.

Hilarious pro-science, anti-flimflam rant by Irish comedian Dara O' Briain (sorry, I'm too lazy to pull out the character map for the diacritical mark), who happens to have a little bit of a scientific background.

Stuff like this is why I prefer to get my science news from science magazines instead of general interest publications.

Notice that 5 of the top 8 "living scientists" named are actually dead.

New York Times retracted slur on Robert Goddard's rocket science--24 years later
    kelvin273
    by kelvin273  7-21-2009
It's kind of funny that they didn't do the retraction until after the first moon rocket launched. Especially since it wasn't the first rocket to work in space by a long shot.

    Hyped up drug studies
    kelvin273
    by kelvin273  7-7-2008
If you read the full article, some of the methods they use to make drugs look good are shocking. For example, if a drug doesn't reduce deaths from strokes, but does reduce the incidence of disability in survivors, they add the two numbers together in one column and claim that the drug reduces "death and disability" (meaning "death + disability," but people assume it means that the likelihood of death is reduced, too).

Five Science Fiction Movies That Get the Science Right

"2001: A Space Odyssey" is my all-time favorite film, so I included almost all of the information from that section. The others on the list are also interesting, though, of course.
