POPSDoes Strength Training = Weight Loss? Good Question...one would think that just by the title - "Strength Training" would only help with strength....but does lifting weights help you burn fat? Over at Liz Harper Fitness this exact question was put to their resident personal trainer (Liz Harper) who answered it nicely. (Below is a quick summary from the post....you'll need to click through to the site for more of the content.)

POPSWeight loss - 3 things that cause it? So you've been sweating away in the gym for one whole week now and the weight isn't exactly stripping off.....why must weight loss take so much time? Why can't it just all fall off in a week? It'd save on gym fees... There is of course more at play when it comes to weight loss than simply sweating it out in the gym. I came across 3 things that cause weight loss today from dietbites I thought you might like.

POPSThe future of Fitness is Here Yes it's true - the future of fitness is indeed upon us....and I have to say...it looks pretty cool. Funky new touch screen technology is about to replace LED screens in gyms making those workout machines interactive, fun and smarter. No longer will we see the ladies on the exercise bikes reading magazines while they pedal....new technology means they can watch opera while they sweat.....sweet!

POPSWeight Loss Sunglasses anyone?weight loss sunnies Strange but true - Weight Loss Sunglasses. I believe they work the opposite way to "Beer goggles" ...you see you put these blue sunnies on and food magically appears Fat and Ugly...with Beer Goggles you of course consume a lot of beer and things magically appear Thin and beautiful. These sunnies are cheap and if they keep me away from KFC I'm up for it.

POPSHistory of the Exercise ball Have ever seen those big bright colored balls that often roll around the floor of the gym? Until a few weeks ago I thought they were for sitting on in between real exercises. (he he) Have you ever tried to perform any kind of core strengthening exercises on one of these things? Talk about hard work.... So I decided to some research on this round piece of plastic known as the exercise ball and came across a little history lesson at the "This Mama Cooks" blog today.....please read and follow for more info.

POPSCould Road Running make you crazy? I've often thought that you'd have to be mad to go for a run anyway...this news story has only confirmed my suspicions that too much jogging...in particular, road running - could make you go a little loopy. Running in heavy traffic, inhaling all that diesel.....it was never going to be good...but this new research paints a pretty bleak picture for man and dog who like to jog. No mention of inhaling Unleaded fumes....perhaps the answer for those who simply must jog in and around traffic...is to hold your breath whenever you see a truck or land rover?

POPSDepression Links to Obesity & Poor Health & Fitness My wife and I were only talking about this subject the other day....and I guess it's something that makes a lot of sense when you think about it. I have clipped this article and posted it, mainly because I'm sure there are people who wouldn't even know why they're in a rut....that's how it starts. I think it's important to understand why you're doing what you're doing, why you're eating what you're eating....and why you find it easier to drink than face your demons. If you are depressed you should seek professional help...In Australia you can contact "beyond blue" for more info..... Here's the latest news on depression from Reuters Health.

POPSEvery Little Bit helps - even the low intensity stuff Ok, so I was over at "FitWatch.com" today and I came across an article about exercise and how it can help the folks who are always tired. My wife is tired all the time...and she;'s a personal trainer...interesting...she's always training other people and missing out on exercise herself. We both agree with this post - A little bit of exercise...even at a low intensity can help. Now if we could only put into practise what we preach.
