POPSSenate OKs promotions of Iraqi generals Petraeus certainly deserves the promotion but I hope it's not too soon for him to leave his post. Everyone has a propensity to change things around once they start to go well.

POPSWhy Big Oil is not to blame for fuel prices FTA: "Russia's flag-planting PR stunt on the Arctic seabed last year was not about some new-found concern to protect the environment - it was about oil." "If governments decide to plunder these profits through windfall taxes, we all lose." This article describes the issues in it's simplest form. There's boocoodles of oil and multi-options for other sources of energy. I'm hoping the American Spirit, (not the politicians & the small-minded), will take this opportunity and go with it.

POPSObama advisor: Jerusalem must be included in peace talks "...as opposed to the current Israeli administration which is not.." So the Israeli governments that resist and oppose the sovereign lose of Jerusalem *must* make the concession? This alone is enough to confirm that I would never vote for Obama.

POPSSaddam's Terror Links FTA: "The main Iraq intelligence failure was over WMD, but the report indicates that the CIA also underestimated Saddam's ties to global terror cartels."

POPSTennis in Dubai -- to rj3sp I loved your pictures of Dubai and was reminded of these photos I had seen a couple of years ago. They're horrifying to me. My legs would not even hold me if I were that high! I was reminded of the Assyrian, Babylonian and Persian Empires of the ancient world and their amazing and elaborate architecture. They are rising again.

POPSPoison cake kills Iraqi children Is this not the depths of evil. Not been used 'since the downfall of Saddam Hussein....' So is this Bush's fault??? I'm sooooo glad that man is gone. Sadly there are many others who believe his tactics are worthy of imitation. Speaks volumes and even the BBC must report it.

POPSOlmert Gov't Bans Jewish Prayer From Temple Mount If this is true...this is without a doubt the most asinine *pronouncement* that I have EVER heard. "don't move your lips". If the average Israeli allows this to stand, they truly are doomed! No matter that they have the strongest military in the Middle East, the most stable economy, and the most productive of brain-banks. Somebody...please....give a brain and some common sense to someone in the Israeli government. If this stands...all ya'll just lay down and say to Hamas and Fatah..."take us over.'

POPSThe First Lady's quiet coup The story behind the First Lady's visit and the women in burkas. Nice article with some telling remarks about individual relationships in different cultures.

POPSVladimir Putin pledges to complete Iranian nuclear reactor Whoa! The stakes are getting higher! So what does our government do? Allow them to strengthen themselves more, forge more alliances, and wait for their move against the US and our national interests? the security interests of Europe? against Israel? Who, among our Presidential candidates, actually believes they have the wisdom, the fortitude, the power to deal with the major problems waiting for them? Frankly, I don't see any one among them qualified for the responsibility.

POPSDon't accept two-state solution, refugees tell Abbas "...beforehand....". That says a lot to me. And I have to wonder if these "representatives" truly speak for the "refugees". And frankly, the problem of the "refugees" rests on the shoulders of those in authority in the PA provinces. Can't wait to hear about that 'joint-statement' from Olmert & Addas. s/off And has it been the Palestinians 'fighting' these last decades or infiltrators and instigators with a Muslim/anti-Israeli agenda? I have to believe that without the outside influences, the Israeli-*resident* Palestinian issues would have been solved years ago!

POPSIt's crucial to reveal the truth even at this late stage I remember this. It was heartbreaking to watch and heartbreaking to see how the incident was being used to fan the flames of violence. But since then, we have seen many such situations being manipulated for propaganda purposes whose main purpose is to continue the hate. Even then, there were doubts that the footage was accurate. But how many people really *care* if it was or not.

POPSIran Irreversible? There's been a lot of complaints against the US, Bolton, Great Britain and France. The truth is the truth. I'd like to know what the solutions are from the *other side*. Just let Iran gain nuclear supremacy in the Middle East, extended it's power across the arena, and ultimately controlling the economic and social structure of the entire world? Even those in Ireland would feel the iron-fist of Islamic domination.

POPSThe Surrender Lobby It doesn't take a brain surgeon to know this. Even I know what will happen if the current surrender monkeys get their way. Then every single death of every single innocent Iraqi, who put their trust in the US and it's word, will be on the head of this 'surrender lobby'.

POPSIraqis warn of civil war if US troops withdraw Are there other US citizens, out there, who realize that setting a time-table for, or even suggesting a withdrawal, would be horribly detrimental to *peace* for ourselves and even the Middle East? In a following conflict (which there most definitely will be) would anyone believe in us/US? Where would our credibility be? Our military personnel can make a difference for the good; but our politicians, both past and present, make whatever gains we could make null and void. This entire way of thinking undermines our National integrity, our military and it's commitment and sacrifice; the very standards of the United States. Does anyone believe that leaving Iraq, NOW, would benefit the United States and the rest of the World?! The Congress committed. So they think, now, it was a deceptive *commitment*...NOT! They Knew! So.... how do you believe leaving, at this point, would be beneficial? Explain. I do not see it.

POPSDead US diplomat in Cyprus 'stabbed himself' Ok...do you believe that a lieutentant-colonel *stabbed* himself in the neck and committed suicide? These people must really think we're all idiots. Kind a' like that Muslim prisoner (can't recall his name) who shot himself 3 times in the back of his head while in an Iraqi prison during Saddam's time.
4
POPSHouse votes to ban aid to Saudi Arabia Eeeeuuuww. I can't believe I agree with a Democrat!! and one from New York! :~) And I wish I had confidence that the aid *had* been going to the training of *counter* terrorism efforts....but don't.

POPSSouthern Gaza town of Rafah falls to Hamas This is horrible. Do the ordinary citizens wish the Israelis were back? Does anyone have a sense that this must be stopped? Cynically I'd say let them all kill each other; but like in Iraq, it's not just the *bad guys* being murdered.

POPSPratfall in Damascus "Nancy Pelosi..offered an excellent demonstration yesterday of why members of Congress should not attempt to supplant the secretary of state when traveling abroad." If the WP is saying it, it's *bad*! Can anyone say "Hubris"?
