    jatfla
    by jatfla  6-29-2009    1
Amen to the last statement of the clip. I'm sick of all of them. Only within the last few years have I begun to realize how corrupted Washington (and everyone, I guess) truly is. I'll admit to being naive because I was raised to be honest...or suffer the consequences. If other high-profile names can be prosecuted and sent to prison...why not these?? And I don't care about their Party affiliation.

Time to end Black History Month?
    jatfla
    by jatfla  2-6-2009    5
Can we just teach American History (the real version) and stop making PC points that over-reach? I just spent 2 1/2 wks working on a project about Louis Armstrong (required) with my G-son. Now, Mr. Armstrong was a great cornet, jazz musician. So? Reality...I'm not special, you're not special, no one is special....unless they live their lives in a way that benefits other human beings. And I think most all of us do that to some extent everyday. Make it an elective course in school.

Good. Not for one minute do I believe that the march towards *gay marriage* or the homosexual agenda will not succeed in American culture. However, I support those who continue to thwart it's advance in the public arena....regardless of it's final outcome.

    jatfla
    by jatfla  12-12-2007    10
I don't want to make this too much of a blanket statement, but I believe this is where Eastern and Western cultures clash. The Judeo-Christian *traditional* sensibilities will not accept a persons *right* to kill another person. Whether for religious or cultural reasons. A "teen issue"....maybe. We all have them if we have teens. Murdering them should warrant an arrest no matter their *crimes*. The poor mother. This is pitiful.

'Kite Runner' actor's family wants rape scene cut
    jatfla
    by jatfla  9-24-2007    2
I listened to this book on audio and it was, without a doubt, one of the best stories I've listened to/read in a long, long time. And it's not about rape; it's about Afghanistan, it's culture, and two boys' relationships. It's about loyalty, human affection blended with the culture and traditions of one's Country. It haunted me. There is no way that the directors can not re-do the scene in such a way as to protect the sensibilities and fears of the family and still remain true to the original story. For years Hollywood was able to leave things to our imagination and it never destroyed the quality of the story. With all the garbage out there that is promoted as quality entertainment, surely this story can be salvaged. This one could actually deserve to win an Oscar.

Participants of each of the 3 major religions of the world have, in the past, been responsible for horrible things in the name of their Faith. I say that those who did these things were not orthodox representatives of their Faith. But to, in this time of history, make all 3 equally liable for the horror that is going on in the world is a lie...and that is what this series attempted to do. Paint them all with the same murderous, extremist brush. And the world ate it up.

Time to shut down. When the laws of the land begin to demand that people of faith compromise their belief-system, then which *power* are traditional Christians to obey? Not meaning to be too confrontational here. I believe Christian organizations, companies and clubs are being targeted to undercut their dogma, put a certain agenda front-and-center, and eliminate personal religion standards.
