POPSR-71 Update - Error rate is high Those wanting to get R-71 onto the ballot began with a cushion of 17,112 signatures and could sustain an error rate of 12.42%. Currently the error rate is at 13.31% of the 23,457 signatures that have been processed. Their cushion now stands at 13,900. If the error rate remains at 13.31% the referendum will fall 1215 signature short.

POPSA real argument made against granting domestic partner benifits He really said that domestic partnership diverts rights - including end of life decisions by older children for elderly parents. I strongly believe that a person has the right to make their own end of life decisions and if that includes transferring that ability to someone same sex via domestic partnership then more power to them. Children do not have the right to dictate their elder parents lives.

POPSVermont Legalized Gay MArriage With Veto Override This is a huge win! A true day to celebrate. At least two House Members who voted no on the original passage of the bill changed their votes and overrode the veto. Again I say it is time on Washington to do the same.

POPSVermont Governor Vetos Gay Marriage The Vermont House voted 95-52 in support of the legislation. That is two more no votes than is needed to sustain a veto. As I said when the House voted the first time, I hold out hope that two votes can be changed (and that the three who did not vote will also vote to override the veto).

POPSObama and Rick Warren have History I'm still not convinced that this was the right person to ask to give the invcation, but I'm beginning to see why Obama made this decision. Obama needs to move quickly on don't ask don't tell.

POPSNew York Senate may not take up gay marriage issue next session Looks like there is a leadership fight that may derail the prommiss made to the gay community that if they gained a majority the Democrats in the Senate would hold a vote on the issue. I'm ready to have this vote in my home state of Washington. Lets get it out there and see who supports and who opposes this legislation. Then if we win in the legislature we can work on defending the probable referendum that would be filed against the bill. I think the gay community is ready to go out there and orginize, to speak to their neighbors and firends, to do what it takes to pass this now not next year. the loss on Prop.8 has started an engagement with the process and now is the time, now is the time.

POPSProp 8's Aftermath With 70% yes vote from the black community it is clear that we have not done adequate outreach to that community. We need to begin/extend the dialogue with them.

POPSProp 8 Faces Legal Challenge I still think we should take the Domestic Partner win (gay marriage by another name if it grants all the same rights and responsibilities) and move on.

POPSCalifornia Prop. 8 gains momentum There is much work yet to be done in securing the right to marry for same sex couples. Please think about contributing to the No on Prop 8 campaign here -- http://www.noonprop8.com/home
