About me
A fourty-something guy interested in history, philosophy, archaeology, information technologies and literature. A vegetarian, libertarian, agnostic and book worm. A smoker, loves alcoholic drinks (Bourbon and Raki are favourites). Using the net since mid 1990's. Married, has no children. Loves cats, plants (has lots of pots in his home), deeply in love with the seas. A sci-fi fan - but very selective: such as Philippe K. Dick, Ray Bradbury, Arthur C. Clarke. Strongly believes the world will experience catastrophic transformations in and around year 2012.
Why I use Clipmarks
Because it is the best online tool I have ever used to collect, categorize and archive information, as well as being an ideal community environment. Clipmarks has become an addiction for me in just a few months.

Russia pledges support to Serbia

Looks like Kosovo crisis gonna deepen soon. The likelihood of a new "war in Europe" is already being discussed by analysts. That's why Russia's position as a "key actor" seems very important at the moment.

In other protests, several hundred Serb army veterans at a border post between Kosovo and Serbia stoned Kosovo riot police who, backed by Czech troops in riot gear, stood their ground until the protesters dispersed. No one was hurt.

Minarets, Cathedral and Politics: Islam in Europe
invictus
by invictus  7-5-2007
The growing Muslim community in Germany is demanding new mosques, while a strong opposition rises in the country against what they call "the Islamization of the land". Reactions come from both extreme-right local parties and respected intellectuals and thinkers, each side expressing their worries in a different way, of course. Religious issues keep growing in Europe's agenda, adding up to the so-called "conflict (or clash) of civilizations".

France and UK: Merging the Agendas
invictus
by invictus  6-9-2006    1
As well as climate change and shrinking energy supplies, Iran's nuclear ambitions were also on the agenda. The BBC's Caroline Wyatt, in Paris, says both Mr Chirac and Mr Blair are seen as leaders in their last term in office and both seem determined to focus on what unites rather than divides their two nations.
