When is exclusivity okay?
innonate
by innonate  9-20-2007
Here's a clip from the NYTimes' blog. I think gated social networks have their purpose, when they serve a purpose. The exclusivity for exclusivity's sake sites are lame, along with their offline counterparts. But, if there's a reason to be private, like TheFunded , for instance, then I say rock on. Thoughts? When do you think exclusivity is okay?

a shared vision can come from many angles

The paragraph below provides an interesting peek into the rationale for running shared space/coworking facilities. It's been fun sharing ideas and buzz around this issue, because the issue of motivation is so interesting, and the varying motivations put a spotlight on the different parts of the very ecosystem we're talking about.

Who should be releasing web video?
innonate
by innonate  6-7-2007
NewTeeVee reports on the latest from Nielsen's new mobile stat service, but they ask "Who Watches Web Video?" I think the question is "Who should put up web video." If you're a current video publisher and your audience fits these demos (rich, middle age men), then you should be getting your video on mobile platforms in the most cost effective ways possible.

Cool Rock Show on Public Radio

by innonate  6-4-2007
Forget Last.fm for a moment... there's still cool music on public radio. For those of you indie rock & roll fans out there, check out yPod, the podcast of Y-Rock at WXPN in Philly. I just stumbled upon them and it's a great listen.

Raphaela Platow made Director at the Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati

by innonate  5-8-2007
This is very exciting news for a number of reasons. As a Cincinnatian I'm always talking about the CAC and how wonderful it is, so it's great news that we'll be getting such a world-class director running the ship. As a Brandeisian, I'm excited that our Rose Museum is feeding such respected institutions such as the CAC. Congrats to Raphaela, the CAC, Cincinnati, and Brandeis.

Incubator, HotPlate, or Digital District?
innonate
by innonate  5-8-2007
There's a lot going on in the incubator space, and Darren catches up with it in this post. In the comments section of his post, I observe/question: "I have an increasing fear that incubators are not sustainable, which is why I really like the “hot-plate” model, of providing the underlying economic efficiencies to groups and companies with various financing statuses. I wonder both HOW these two models (incubator and hotplate) mesh up with what you’re doing on Broad Street and IF you think it would be more sustainable to get the City involved by creating an official and supported Digital District, like they’ve done in Paris."
