POPSWe're all Martians? I suppose it's POSSIBLE that we evolved from some organic matter that hitched a ride on a flying space rock, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

POPSObama's solution to Social Security Hrm. I'm not sure what the Social Security tax is now, but is seems like a better idea that cutting benefits (dog food lunch, anyone?) or increasing the retirement age again. It's already 65! Expecting people to work after 65 is a little much, physically for the elderly. Another problem is that Medicare comes along with Social Security, and the older one gets, the more stuff goes wrong with the body! There might be a better solution, but I can't think of one. We are already one of the world's nations that neglect our elderly the most, yet one of the richest. Something's amiss here.

POPSWhen it's ok to lie to your kid From Parenting magazine, some really good advice on telling little white lies, protective lies, and social fibs...and when you should just come clean. It's good advice for childless folks too!

POPSRussian catastrophe These oil spills are becoming entirely too common. Perhaps it's time for some stricter rules on transporting oil.

POPSHow YOU can save the world! Plus, it will save you money, both in transportation costs and medical bills! I just heard on the news this morning that premium gas in California just hit 5/gallon. Ouch. And How much are oil company exec.s making these days?

POPSInsulin shot may save your heart from damage Insulin may be good for more than controlling diabetes. A new study is being conducted on it's effects on heart attack victims since it was noted in an earlier study by a different group, that people on insulin had significantlly less inflamation following a heart attack than those who were not. Could administering low doses of insulin be common practice following a heart attack?

POPSRight wing of the GOP? Haha. The RIGHT wing of the GOP. Is there another wing in the GOP? This just struck me as (probably) funny(ier) than it really is:p

POPSGIANT gabage patch floating in Pacific This is absolutely unbelievable. If you're never drive across To put this in perspective, Texas, the second larges state in the union, includes roughly 267,339 sq. mi, or 7.4% of the nation's total area. And our mommies can't clean up after us this time.

POPSWash your hands or the terrorists win! It's a sad, but true parody, so nobody get your panties in a wad. It addresses the serious concern of anti-biotic resistant super-bugs and prevention of passing them along.

POPSGiant snails overrun Brazil First introduced to Brazil as a food source, the giant snails have taken the place over and are a real nuisance. Like the old saying goes,'it's not nice to mess with mother nature!'

POPSSwallowing gum How long Does it take for swallowed gum to pass? Apparently not as long as old wives tales say...

POPSPlants: Smarter than we thought? Some plants, it would seem, are able to communicate with each other. Does theis make them intelligent life? Depends on what you mean by intelligent. Clearly they are 'smarter' than we thought.

POPSAspirin and sex drive Interesting research on how maternal ingestion of aspirin affects kids' libido.. Just click the link to play the video.

POPSSeniors demand return of doughnuts! I think if someone wants to give them free treats, they should be allowed to have them, even if they're bad for them. This is America. We allow people to smoke, to not wear a motorclcle helmet in some states, and do a multitude of other things that are probably not healthy. I think seniors are entitled to the same rights everyone else has. Most of these people are well into their sunset years. Let them enjoy the little things in life while they still can!

POPSBest mountain photos of 2007 Some of these look like paintings, but they're all actual photographs. There are more in the article and a blurb explaining what each one is:)

POPSVelociraptor had feathers Though they lost their ability to fly somewhere along their evolution, they retained their feathers. They weigh a lot less than I would have thought though, only about 30 pounds. Compare that to a modern ostrich. Scrawny little thing...

POPSMore human evolution complications emerge We have more species than ever that could be our ancestors and the true lineage is getting murkier than ever. So many possibilities. Perhaps there was more inter-breeding between our ancestor's groups than thought.
