Money and the Bible
hszoo
by hszoo 6-22-2007
You already know I post often about being a good steward with money, tithing, and giving, as well as about how to generate income. Money and the Bible is written specifically to help us as Christians deal with our finances in a way that is pleasing to God and which follows Biblical guidelines. It's been my experience that handling finances this way leads to prosperity. More than that, it leads to personal satisfaction that I've done things rightly, ethically, and Scripturally.

Independent Homeschooling
hszoo
by hszoo 6-22-2007
Interesting and very informative blog, Independent Homeschooling is written by a homeschooling mom. She looks at homeschooling as the best way to teach your child, while recognizing that not every single parent may be able to homeschool. She also looks at it in a very sensible manner, not expecting every child to exceed his peers, but simply to learn and be a person others like having around. I like this woman's attitude.

If you're like me, you find most financial blogs and websites to be pretty dry fare. Not so with MoneyNing. This is a lively and interesting blog with lots of sound financial advice, ranging from selling aluminum cans and glass bottles to stock investing. I like how he runs the gamut when blogging about seeking financial freedom, not leaving out those little things that sap our budgets. This is a good read and I'm subscribing to it!

These interesting and engaging lessons are free for you to use in your homeschool classroom. While they may require you to have certain equipment, they can be adapted to suit your classroom and the tools you have on hand. They include lessons for grades kindergarten through 12, so you can really cover a lot of learning territory in the homeschool setting. The free lessons are written to be downloaded in both PDF and RTF, so the choice is yours. Download in whichever format you can open.

Sky Mapss

by hszoo 6-4-2007
One of the newsletters I still get comes from Skymaps.com. They send you a free link to download the current sky map so you can use it in your astronomy science courses. There are also great articles and opportunities to purchase even more materials to supplement your homeschool science. As long as you comply with their terms of use, you can distribute the sky maps in the classroom setting. We used these for a few years during our homeschooling experience and I highly recommend them to you!

FreeCycle
hszoo
by hszoo 5-30-2007
I'm part of a local FreeCycle group for our county in Arkansas. FreeCycle is a worldwide movement now and it's helping to keep usable items out of landfills. How does this work? Just read the ClipMark below for some information. My local FreeCycle group uses Yahoo! Groups as its message board. Emails are sent to me, and if there's something offered I could use, or someone wants something I can give, then I hit reply and it goes straight to the author of the email instead of to the whole group. I can also post "Wanted" or "Offer" emails for things I need or wish to give away. Keep in mind this is not some kind of charity handout or a shopping list for everything you ever wanted. It's a way for useful items to find new homes. Posts must follow certain protocol, one of which is that items offered must be FREE, legal, and appropriate for all ages. To find a FreeCycle group near you, it's as easy as clicking the link for www.freecycle.org and doing a search.

by hszoo 5-29-2007
As I posted earlier, there is software designed to convert video for you iPod. However, some of you may have questions about this kind of software and whether it's worth the cost or really works. Blurtit.com has answers for you. As you can see in the ClipMark below, it's a question that's already been asked. Blurtit is a go-to site for questions you may have about a variety of subjects, and where you can find answers that are given by folks like yourself. They are arranged in easy-to-use categories so searching is simple. You can also ask a question about those things in which you may have some doubts or just don't understand. You can find information about everything from Arts & Literature to Home & Gardening to Travel, and dozens of areas in between. Of course, here I'm mainly interested in anything that has to do with the Music &

Ebay tips - TurboLister
hszoo
by hszoo 5-26-2007
After you've been selling things on Ebay for awhile, you're probably going to want to use a tool that will help you to better organize your auctions and help you with uploading them when you want them to start and end. TurboLister is a free download from Ebay and is very easy to use. It allows you to completely write your auction listing including the listing categories and starting price. It will allow you to set a future time for uploading, but this part will add a small fee to your listing fees. However, if you like to write your auctions during off times, you may want to use this feature so that they are uploaded at a more optimal time. Once I started using this tool, I found listing to be far easier than going page by page on the Ebay site. Give it a try and tell me what you think.

Intermission - iPod software
hszoo
by hszoo 5-26-2007
This is pretty neat stuff as far as technology goes. Now you can obtain software that will quickly convert DVD to iPod movies. The software is easy to download and they offer a free trial so you can take it for a test drive before purchasing it. My daughter's boyfriend has an iPod he uses frequently and he hates to miss some of his favorite TV shows when he's doing yard work. This would be a great way for him to be able to view them later after he's set his recorder to record the shows. Then, he could convert the videos using this software and download them to his iPod for viewing at his leisure. This suite combines two features - iPod Movie Video Converter and DVD to iPod Converter - into one software package for a single low price. After your trial period is over, this can be purchased for only $39.95, a savings of $19.95. Sorry, Mac users. This isn't compatible for your OS yet. It's available only for Microsoft Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP right now.

Bikers at churchh
hszoo
by hszoo 5-20-2007
Yes, you read that right. These folks are Christian bikers, though. They do wear all the leathers, ride Harleys, and the guys look fairly rough. But they are part of a couple of Christian ministries who attend biker related events and rallies in order to minister to those they meet there. Most of these ministry clubs are offshoots of the Patriot Guard Riders. Click on over and give them your support.

Jerry Falwell dead at age 73
hszoo
by hszoo 5-17-2007
Jerry Falwell, well known as a very conservative Christian preacher and the founder of the Moral Majority was found lifeless in his office. While he was indeed a very controversial figure with his stance on various political issues, we should remember that he was never afraid to take a stand for what he believed in. I didn't agree with all of his stances, but I respected and admired his tenacity and courage in stating his beliefs, regardless of how unpopular they might have been. When is the last time you took a stand instead of rolling over just to be PC?

Another reason to homeschool

As if school shootings aren't enough, now the teachers are terrorizing elementary aged school children using the scenario as some kind of demented "training exercise". Why would sane adults so terrify the children in their charge? As a parent, I would be snatching my child from that school in a heartbeat and he'd never set foot in a public school again.
