POPSer, some mis-mis-mis-information never dies. Whee. Another amazing flame war re: source based distros vs. binary based. The problem here (and in similar techno-evangelical rants) is that no one really spends a ton of time analyzing each other's specific, unique requirements, they just rant about the pros they see, when analyzing their own requirements. Reminds me of a joke, antidote, whatever, I heard... wish I could remember where. Maybe the Canada on Rails con? I am totally butchering it, badly, but it goes something like: "What is the main difference between a pair coders and pair of surgeons?" "The surgeons can walk up to the operating table, put their technique or philosophical differences aside, and save the patient's life" "The coders, on the other hand, will argue about what technique or tool to use at length while the patient dies on the table"

POPSTRIZ This is interesting, and new to me, outlining the theory and practice of the science of invention. It sounds like the focus is enabling folks to be creative, and explore their world. Have not dug too deep into this, but so far, I can't really argue with the stated goals.
