11 things you may not know about Star Wars

  - The trench that the rebels fly through isn't the one that runs around the equator of the Death Star. It's one of 18 vertical trenches that start halfway up from the equator and run toward the north pole. (p. 280) - The motion picture review board rated "Star Wars" a G, until the studio went back and demanded a PG rating. Also, some of the raters fell asleep during the screening. (p. 289) - Lucas and Steven Spielberg swapped profit points on their two movies, "Star Wars" and "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," each believing the other's would do better. (p. 298) - Twentieth Century Fox's stock jumped 450% immediately after the movie came out. (p. 301)

When Life Becomes Scentless

The film Perfume portrays the world of a man who has an unparalleled, acute sense of smell. But what is life like for the millions of people who have lost it? The entire article is worth reading, whether you've read the novel or not. (I hope Das Parfum is as good as the novel.)

Top 5 Greatest Movie Monologues
Kore7
by Kore7  10-25-2006    3
According to the author, the top 2 greatest movie monologues ever are: 1. Peter Sellers as President Merkin Muffley in Dr. Strangelove . 2. Ned Beatty as Arthur Jensen in Network . Can you guess the other 3 without looking? Do you have some better suggestions? What makes a great movie monologue? Even more to the point, what qualifies as a monologue? Hamlet's soliloquy would certainly make the cut, but its origins didn't spring from film, so it's probably ineligible. Does a speech have to be a certain length to qualify as a monologue? Can it be addressed to someone who reacts or occasionally interjects something in the middle of the display? (Via kottke.org.)

You are looking at a movie prop original. The Fembot of Jessica Kensington from the motion picture, Austin Powers 2, "The Spy Who Shagged Me". This silicon puppet weighs approximately 30lbs and is the original that was used in the movie. All silicon skin with a fiberglass plastic shell interior for the face. Face is wired with lights inside the eyes and mouth area. Works with a 9 volt battery. Punched hair. Also, there are holes where the nipples would be. This is where the special FX dept rigged gun barrels to pop out and shoot blanks. This prop does not include gun barrels or any equipment used on that effect. But it would be a simple task to rig fake ones as seen in the shot. This prop has been packed and stored since it's debut and is in mint condition. Originally cost over $20,000 to make. Comes with: Original dress used in the movie, Pull off silicon mask, and Black round wooden base with speedrail stand.
