POPSTeacher Hit And Kicked 5th Graders In Gym Class Aren't we a big lady on campus to start kicking 10 year olds. What is it with adults in authority these days assaulting children. I'm sure they know better. If they can't handle the stress, don't take the j-o-b! Simple as that.

POPSNYC To Open Arabic School I actually find this fascinating and wish this every success. It's a shame we don't have similar schools for other cultures as well, Spanish, French, Irish (mine), Hungarian (mine as well), among many, many others. It would give many students a way to get in touch with their culture and their elders. If the school would invite some elderly from the home countries these schools are teaching about, it would be a way to connect the youth to the elderly and maybe a bit more respect in today's society. Just a thought. And if not a whole school devoted to it, maybe a few classes, or half days devoted to it. Something to think about.

POPSWizardry Book In School Upsets Some Parents I can see the point one parent is trying to make. Wizardry is considered a religion to some, and you can't check out a Bible or Koran at school, but the school didn't order this book as a religious book, they ordered it a fun book for kids to read and they saw no harm, no foul. So I also see the school's point of view. Tough call I say. I'm on the fence with this one. Thoughts?

POPSElementary School Teacher Tapes Student's Mouth Shut My daughter has a severe form of ADHD and is on 2 forms of Ritalin. A long acting in the morning, and a fast acting in the afternoon at school to help push her through the rest of the day. She's a serious speed talker. I'm mean talking non-stop without taking a breath from the minute she wakes until the minute she sleeps. Sometimes I'm almost glad school starts just so I'm glad to hear dead silence. But in all seriousness, thankfully she has a teacher who's very understanding, and knows how to get her to behave in class and allows her time to play and talk. As well, if a teacher were to do this, no matter how "nice" they were, I'd be extremely upset by this. I can definitely sympathize with the mother on this one.

POPSTeacher Could Lose Job Over Request To Draw Penis I could be wrong, but don't we have books with this picture? I recall learning how to draw BOTH male and female anatomy in 7th grade health class next to some joker who'd snort Kool-Aid off his desk with a straw trying to look cool a good 15 years or more ago. What grade do they start teaching it now?
