Life after oil: time to get ready
enbar
by enbar  1-4-2007    2
James Kunstler's trademark pessimism, which, sadly, is probably right on the money. According to the Dept. of Energy, world energy demand now exceeds supply; get ready for a rough ride down the other side of the peak.

Hey, It's Official. The U.S. Didn't Start the War in Iraq after all!
zasel
by zasel  3-2-2007    15
Thank you Tony Snow. Now the world finally knows that it was not Bush who started the way in Iraq. It was those terrorists who were hiding out in the caves of Afghanistan who forced us into invading Iraq on false pretenses. I feel so much better now.

An inconvenient truth Al Gore left out of his movie
enbar
by enbar  1-9-2007    32
According to this writer, Gore never really comes clean in his film about precisely how much sacrifice will be required of residents of industrialized countries if we are to stop global warming. Estimates suggest we'd have to cut CO2 emissions by 90%. Something tells me that's not going to happen.

New thin-film solar panels easy to install
gingembre
by gingembre  3-7-2007    2
These new solar panels look and sound easy to install. No price info here but links are provided for more info, including dealers and possible financial incentives available. With electricity prices going ever higher and solar power technology (and hopefully prices) improving, I hope to be able to go solar soon.

What the climate report really says
n2sooners
by n2sooners  2-4-2007    3
Figures from the US National Climate Data Center show 2006 as about 0.03 degrees Celsius warmer worldwide than 2001. Since that is within the range of measurement error, global temperature has not risen in a statistically significant sense since the UN's last report in 2001. Sources at the center of the drafting say that, though the now-traditional efforts are being made to sound alarmist and scientific at the same time, key projections are being quietly cut.

US Plans to attack Iran are well underway.
citizenbfk
by citizenbfk  2-10-2007    10
The "Master Plan," rumbles on, despite the US votes in the last election, despite the overwhelming majority of Americans being against it, despite the loss of "blood and treasure," despite the destruction it causes. Apparently our votes and feelings are not enough. Impeaching Vice-President Cheney would be a good next steip (If we impeach Bush then Cheney would become President, so it would be best to go one step at a time.) To stop this upcoming war. I propose: Impeach Chene now, right away. Start some criminal trials for him and his 'neo-con,' lying warmongers, ASAP. Impeach Bush next, if there is time - Also, now, right away start Recall Elections against Republican Governor possible. Continuing action into next year, defeat every one of the 21 Republican US Senators who are up for re-election in 2008 and work for a Democrat to be the next President (whoever wins the Democratic Primary). Lets not just to 'defeat' the Republican Party, but to destroy the Republica
