The volcano’s plume is seen here as a brown streak in the cloud b) Phytoplankton bloom in the Barents Sea, Norway, August 12 2008. Phytoplankton are tiny plant-like organisms that are the foundation of the ocean food web. Like plants, they contain chlorophyll that they use to harvest sunlight for photosynthesis. In northern waters, these organisms are starved for sunlight much of the year, but during the summer months, they explode in colourful blooms such as this one

The pastor is not really in touch with reality, me thinks. Not that that is a great surprise, given this extremists track record. Close ties to the Liberal Party. The conservatives here seem to have close ties with these ratbag religions.

Cyclone in the north and fires after a five year drought in the south. Temperatures higher than any recorded. A taste of future life on this planet. But it isn't the result of us polluting the planet, it is just a cyclic thing. Or so some would have me believe.

Koala Love Story Wins Hearts After Deadly Aussie Fires
    merrie
    by merrie  2-11-2009    2
Sam was taken to the Southern Ash Wildlife Shelter in Rawson. Colleen Wood from the Southern Ash Wildlife Shelter that is caring for Sam and Bob said both koalas were doing well while other animals like possums, kangaroos, and wallabies were also starting to emerge from the debris. "They keep putting their arms around each other and giving each other hugs. They really have made friends and it is quite beautiful to see after all this. It's been horrific," said Wood. "Sam is probably aged between two to four going by her teeth and Bob is about four so they have a muchness with each other." Wood said about 20 koalas had been brought into her shelter in recent days, several of whom had bonded as koalas are known to clump together, but none had garnered the same attention as the new Internet star Sam. Islamist Group Urges "Forest Fire Jihad"
    pkronfield
    by pkronfield  2-9-2009
Has anyone noticed the Islamofascists favorite targets are strongholds of liberals? Has anyone noticed that weak, liberal leaders attract attacks? Setting off forest fires are acts of war perpetrated by murderous foreign agents. Anyone found lighting off a fire should be SHOT. No Miranda rights. No due process. The the stupid liberals won't do this, so they bring on more attacks.

At Least 84 Killed in Australian Wildfires
    merrie
    by merrie  2-8-2009    1
The temperature Saturday reached 46 degrees Celsius, and combined with raging winds created perfect conditions for giant fires. Southeastern Australia is one of the world's most fire-prone regions. Hot summer conditions have been exacerbated by a long-standing drought. A recent report from the Australian Institute of Criminology shows that about 30,000 fires are started by arsonists each year, causing a billion dollars-worth of damage. The Institute recommends better education campaigns in the community and schools.
