POPSToddler Fun--An Easy & Non-Toxic Play Dough Recipe I miss the days of making homemade play dough with my children. Sigh. But if you are still fortunate enough to have little ones to entertain don't pass up the opportunity to mix up a batch of play dough with them. :) This blog is one of my favorites, full of delicious recipes and interesting stories of life in Tanzania. Check it out!

POPSQuilt Exhibit at the Renwick It pays to read blogs, so you can tell people to go and see this exhibit. It is about QUILTS! It is at a real MUSEUM! They have a companion BOOK! Sadly (I guess it is my day for sadness), I won't be heading out that way until the summer. Do give me a review and let me know if you liked it. Perhaps I will put the book on my Christmas list. Hhhmm.

POPSDollhouse from recycled cardboard boxes at A Little Hut Patricia of A Little Hut has some great ideas for recycling/repurposing things into new, useable items. I love this idea of building a dollhouse out of cardboard boxes. It's a great parent/child project, and can be modified to meet a child's specific interests. Why not a castle, a fire house, a car? Once the project is complete, it's easy to continue the theme by using recycled carpet remnants for the floors, wallpaper for the walls, even magazine cut-outs for art, or to make paper doll people. I'll be interested in the follow-up photos to see where she goes with it. Link

POPSA Satellite Dish Gazebo (Or: Recycling Redneck Refuse as Lawn Decoration) Step-by-step instructions for "re-purposing" an old satellite dish (I like the acronym BUD--for big ugly dish) and tips for making it better than the one the author & crew made--the old, "if I had it to do over again I would...". This guy is an entertaining writer. His description of the "hippy-dippy" wind chimes he made for the gazebo is quite amusing.

POPSMake Your Own Heavenly Vanilla Soap This is just heaven. Easy as pie too. Melt, add scent, cool and you're done. Rose, lavender, vanilla, rolled oats, add whatever. This is a good way to save on nasty additives and it's cheaper than buying such heavenly divine soap ready-made. Ooh, it's so good! *LOL* Try it. .:)

POPSEasy String Figures Try them, even if you think that you are "all thumbs". I haven't made string figures since I was a kid, but I remember how much fun they were to make then. I'm still pretty good at achieving Position 1. :D

POPSHow to make your refrigerator box house stronger Mr. McGroovy's Box Rivets. Use these rivets to hold together your cardboard box creations: castle, carriage, tank, race car, haunted house. I remember how excited the neighborhood kids would get when someone's parents got a new large appliance. We'd play the heck out of that box until it fell apart. Refrigerator boxes were the best. This site has plans and ideas on how to create cool things with boxes and rivets.
