About me
Chap who likes all things technical, and some things that aren't
Why I use Clipmarks
Cos it's new and looks cool. Want to see if I use it differently to Furl (www.furl.net)
Well, a few months down the line I've found I do use it differently to Furl
I use it mostly when I specifically want to share something with the Clipmarks community, and not just to save something for myself.
However, I still find it occasionally useful for clipping research-type clippings. By that I mean large clips that contain a collection of information from different sources. See my clipmark about free web-based polls for example ) These kind of clips are primarily for myself, but then again, other people sometimes find this sort of collated info useful. So it's not all me me me )

Start Firefox (or Thunderbird) in Safe Mode
gigajosh
by gigajosh  2-4-2008
After a Firefox extension prevented me from starting up Firefox normally (the extension just kept on pounding the CPU and wouldn't let up) I solved the problem simply by starting Firefox in Safe Mode as described in the clip and disabling the extension. I then simply started Firefox up again normally. Bingo :)

When I saw this I started drooling and (nearly) headed straight to Ebay. So here are some pics. Note however the "fatal flaw" according to Gizmodo. You can't open it up. To be honest, I don't really see that as an issue. I think many laptop owners, especially those that go for eye-candy never go near the inside of their laptop, or change the battery.

Windows mobile app won't start
gigajosh
by gigajosh  12-29-2007
If your Windows Mobile application won't start, this could be solved simply by renaming the program's .mui file. The clip demonstrates what is meant by this. For the Dutch (NL) operating system the number required is 0413.

This clip is in Dutch. A couple of forum members mention how rubbish it is that you apparently can't watch Orange TV on the HTC TyTN II... I still hope to crack this problem. I've been at it for hours... AAARG

Want to somehow get something like this on my PocketPC. you know, scan your shopping when you take it out the bags so you know what you've got in the cupboards, and scan stuff when it's been thrown away so you can keep track of what you need to buy. Geeky, but fun :)

Unplug ZShare goodies
gigajosh
by gigajosh  5-7-2007    2
There have been a few clips on hacking Google to get music. Here's another option if you use Firefox and have the UnPlug extension. Do a simple Google search for your music keyword plus site:zshare.net Example: madonna site:zshare.net Click on a search result then use the UnPlug extension to download the song (use UnPlug's normal Save option on the far right-hand side). Good luck :)
