POPS How To Open an MS Works Document in MS Word

This site came to my rescue this morning after someone at work had done a document at home on her word-processor of choice (MS Works) and was trying to open it here in the office. (We only have MS Word and Corel WordPerfect... Yes, I did say WordPerfect...)

My only question is - what about the "safety" of those that prefer Red Hat-based (CentOS plug!), Debian-based, or BSD-based (excluding Suse / SLES) distros?
