POPSExpose to the right: maximising signal in digital photography Everyone tells you to under-expose to avoid blow-outs, but nobody tells you how much detail you'll lose in your shadows and mid-tones if you overdo it. If you don't use the right-hand 20% of your histogram, that's half of your detail gone. So: hug your histogram as far right as you can without blowing anything out.
