If You Can't Read It, You Can't Pass It: readtovote.org

About ReadtoVote.org: Co-founders of the highly acclaimed Tappening movement Mark DiMassimo and Eric Yaverbaum aim to create momentum and inspire all elected officials, as well as the general public, to actually read the bills being debated in our nation. ReadtoVote.org asks for a pledge to read these bills, and provides a link that allows visitors to easily download the major bills currently before Congress. DiMassimo and Yaverbaum plan to continue to invest in bold, brazen, educational marketing campaigns that focus on issues that are profoundly impacting the future of our country. http://readtovote.org/site/?page_id=2 http://twitter.com/readtovote

How Much Will Advertisers Pay for a 1.5 Second Spot?
    Amanda Mooney
    by Amanda Mooney  7-3-2007    1
I think this is absolutely an interesting and thought-provoking study in our post-broadcast, niche media world. "Life After the 30 Second Spot" (check out Joseph Jaffee's book on the subject) means media giants must work even harder to stay profitable and, indeed, desperate times sometime call for desperate studies. However optimistic and provocative, this study falls short because participants are actively engaged in TV and commercial viewing. They sit back, watch and report. However, today's TV viewer is not only fast forwarding the commercial, she is checking her email, downloading at iTunes and Skyping her pals during show breaks. Perhaps this type of environment was tested as well but I didn't see an indicatio of this in the report. Interested to know your thoughts- Should advertisers pay for your attention when you fast forward through their messages?

Study: 95 percent of all e-mail sent in 2007 was spam
    haraya
    by haraya  12-12-2007    1
The point is that collective intelligence is likely better than an individualistic approach to combating spam. When we start pining for the "good ol' days" of junk mail and telemarketing, we clearly need to find solutions. Filtering probably isn't going to cut it.

    A Virtual Business Card, Brilliant
    juliapatriciaroy
    by juliapatriciaroy  7-26-2007    1
My next post will definitely be my virtual business card. I already am using my Gmail signature as a sort of "virtual" business card where I list all my social networking links and profiles. Now mine will not be nearly as impressive as Christopher S. Penn's VBC. Hah, I am already chopping it down to an acronym. I bet we will see much more formal virtual business cards and resumes. LinkedIn is a sort of virtual business card, but it doesn't allow for us social media freaks to list all of our websites. Who else will create a VBC?

Our students were pretty engaged and she mentioned that she cut down on the amount of junk mail she received by using 41pounds.org. If you use 41pounds.org you pay $41 and $15 goes to a non-profit of your choice. If you don't want to pay, Smart Money offers links to some marketing groups you can email or fill forms or call! Cool stuff!
