POPSHEADACHES--TRACKING THE SOURCE Simply DO NOT GIVE UP! No matter how "great" the doctor's reputation, credentails or his seeming sympathy for your pain, IF you do not get reasonable, relatively appropriate and expeditious answers resulting in treatment that is effective for your pain, GO ELSEWHERE. Do not let yourself be intimidated by a doctor's assertions (on his failure to diagnose or successfully treat your pain) that the PAIN is somehow your fault, all in your mind, or some manifestation of a neurosis, or some personality disorder, again all of your conscious or unconscious control. LIFE is short, every moment filled with promise and happiness -- let nothing stand in your way to participate in the joy and realization of this fleeting blessing.

POPSCHRONIC PAIN IS AN EPIDEMIC
No library of books or bank accounts drained for money to pay for unsuccessful treatments can begin to speak of the devasting physical, monetary and emotional losses that are at the root of a LIFE unlived, promises unfulfilled, hopes and ambitions that fuel the bonfire of desperations that rage inside the human psyche. As long as you have your health you can change your circumstances (give up the mind chatter about all the reasons why you can't) and LIVE...just live out the what and who of your Being. Therein lies the answer to you maddening questions, the light in the darkness of the crater you roam endlessly, a lone and weary survivor of despair and melancholy. Why do we go on? Despite all our efforts to balance the tangible manifestations of our corporeal existence, we are swept into a maelstrom of futile corrections, ports of call that promise to HEAL, and a bankrupt Soul. We witness the last rites of our simple leaving only to be awakened again and again...still bound.

POPSRACISM, A SHORT STORY Shocked! My son and his best friend were helping with the move, setting up my son's bed, making it up with clean sheets,etc., when my mother happened to walk by and began a very disconcerted yet fast growing alarm that my son's friend (early teenagers) was about to place my her bedspread on the bed. (frankly I don't know what to apply to this group of planetary dwellers, for fear I'll say the wrong thing!). It was obvious to me and I knew it must be obvious to him (my son was just confused) that he was going to somehow contaminate the spread! I was sick to my Soul. Wondering how I ever came through this family of racists, I shushed her away; but I FELT his embarassment, his wish to be anywhere else, his emotional and psyhic pain. Desperately I wanted to take the blow for him but of course I could not...never have figured out how to do that. We finished the day out but that memory hangs about my lifescapes, with piercing anger at my mother's behavior & my inability to protect.

POPSFIND WHAT IS CAUSING THAT HEADACHE , THEN TREAT After living for over half my life in Chronic Pain (l8 yrs. of which no one could give me a true diagnosis--so I rec'd a great many manipulations of body, mind and spirit, leaving me in the wake of a disasterous effort that went from living to struggling to exist), I know how imperative it is to have a RIGHT diagnosis of the pain that is destroying your life BEFORE you submit yourself, your body/mind/spirit to the experimentation of any and every so-called specialist carrying a medical degree--too often that is all that piece of paper means. You MUST be a partner in this process or risk losing your life or your ability to live one.
