POPSHEADACHES--TRACKING THE SOURCE Simply DO NOT GIVE UP! No matter how "great" the doctor's reputation, credentails or his seeming sympathy for your pain, IF you do not get reasonable, relatively appropriate and expeditious answers resulting in treatment that is effective for your pain, GO ELSEWHERE. Do not let yourself be intimidated by a doctor's assertions (on his failure to diagnose or successfully treat your pain) that the PAIN is somehow your fault, all in your mind, or some manifestation of a neurosis, or some personality disorder, again all of your conscious or unconscious control. LIFE is short, every moment filled with promise and happiness -- let nothing stand in your way to participate in the joy and realization of this fleeting blessing.

POPSCHRONIC PAIN IS AN EPIDEMIC
No library of books or bank accounts drained for money to pay for unsuccessful treatments can begin to speak of the devasting physical, monetary and emotional losses that are at the root of a LIFE unlived, promises unfulfilled, hopes and ambitions that fuel the bonfire of desperations that rage inside the human psyche. As long as you have your health you can change your circumstances (give up the mind chatter about all the reasons why you can't) and LIVE...just live out the what and who of your Being. Therein lies the answer to you maddening questions, the light in the darkness of the crater you roam endlessly, a lone and weary survivor of despair and melancholy. Why do we go on? Despite all our efforts to balance the tangible manifestations of our corporeal existence, we are swept into a maelstrom of futile corrections, ports of call that promise to HEAL, and a bankrupt Soul. We witness the last rites of our simple leaving only to be awakened again and again...still bound.

POPSSHOCKED TO DEATH IN THE ARMS OF FREEDOM It seems more and more apparent that a group of destruction workers should be dispatched to the STATUE OF LIBERTY, with her declaration: "...those yearning to breathe free." Since it is an obvious lie (but then this country seems to be getting away with lies at every port) we should not promise what we cannot deliver. That was another time, another life, another AMERICA.

POPSRACISM, A SHORT STORY Shocked! My son and his best friend were helping with the move, setting up my son's bed, making it up with clean sheets,etc., when my mother happened to walk by and began a very disconcerted yet fast growing alarm that my son's friend (early teenagers) was about to place my her bedspread on the bed. (frankly I don't know what to apply to this group of planetary dwellers, for fear I'll say the wrong thing!). It was obvious to me and I knew it must be obvious to him (my son was just confused) that he was going to somehow contaminate the spread! I was sick to my Soul. Wondering how I ever came through this family of racists, I shushed her away; but I FELT his embarassment, his wish to be anywhere else, his emotional and psyhic pain. Desperately I wanted to take the blow for him but of course I could not...never have figured out how to do that. We finished the day out but that memory hangs about my lifescapes, with piercing anger at my mother's behavior & my inability to protect.

POPSVIDEO GAMING--DIAGNOSABLE MENTAL DISORDER "Can we go outside to play?" (we used to hear that all the time, now no one is pleading to go outside, just to sit in front of a redundancy whose only objective is to destroy, maim, and kill without concern -- except as to how many points they can get for the worst afflications they can exact.) I'm stunned that no parent seems concerned or worried about the mindset this gaming is creating in their child's mind. Perhaps it is enough for these caretakers of the world's most precious cargo, to just be left alone. No one sits down for dinner at the family dining table anymore. It's grab your plate, load it up and disappear into their bedrooms with only the pc, playstation, tv, etc., to gobble up non-nutritous spoons of something akin to a meal. This whole country reminds me of a village whose water has been contaminated by some unseen destructive force; whose objective is to shrivel the mind& bodies of the inhabitants of the village.

POPSNOT AGAIN! FAST-SPREADING WILDFIRES IN S. Calif. When you live in Southern California, you are brainwashed about the constant and lingering possibility of Earthquakes...but WILDFIRES seem to escape the intense scrutiny, devastating losses, and the always asked: "What or where will these people go who have just lost everything?" It is definitely coming into our consciousness (as drought conditions have already cast a deep shadow along the beautiful S. California coastlines and inward). We are all equals when it comes to being "drafted" for the uncountable personal and business losses. After last month's massive evacuations, many sank into the cushioned armchair of "lightning doesn't strike twice in the same place." And that fallacy only intensifies the lack of being mindful of our vulnerability. Such firestorms are an event that no one wants to encounter. In so many facets of living in America most people seem to be asleep to the sharp realities that lie a breath away.

POPSA RECESSION, A GOOD THING? While this article is focused on Great Britian, I think, too, that a general "belt-tightening" might just WAKE some sleeping, delusional hard-working middle-class citizens that it is past time to take more than a passing interest into what is "not just going to go away and things will go back to the way they were...those days when gasoline could fill your car's tank easily, barely a consideration in the tallying of the monthly budget." Those days have passed and are not coming back. In order to proceed (and progress, hopefully) into the 21st century is going to require a complete revamping of minds everywhere. Unpleasant, but necessary before we all sink into an abyss of slavish thinking, morality issuing brigades and; the encroaching doomsday consortioms.

POPSONLY THE WEALTHY CAN EAT HEALTHY IN AMERICA? This is supposedly the best, wealthiest nation on the planet yet this staggering statistic points in all the wrong directions on the compass we are being guided by. Americans need to come home to themselves. While we are aware of the crucilble that the poorest of poor developing countries try to subsist in, we must not forget that without proper attention, care and direction, this country is going to soon fall into massive disrepair. Where is the vision for America?

POPSNO JUSTICE FOR VICTIM OF SAUDI RAPE What does the KORAN really say about this sentence? Is it the doctrine of the KORAN or just the ancient tribal barbaric methods of dealing with crimes such as rape? Despite their rush to exclaim how "well thought of" the women in their countries are and the movement to more acceptable means of administering punishment to offenders, this example is at the core of their archaic belief system. As usual, I suppose the "old guard" must die away to allow truly enlightened progress to take root and flourish -- as we have seen throughout other older systems in other countries.

POPSFIND WHAT IS CAUSING THAT HEADACHE , THEN TREAT After living for over half my life in Chronic Pain (l8 yrs. of which no one could give me a true diagnosis--so I rec'd a great many manipulations of body, mind and spirit, leaving me in the wake of a disasterous effort that went from living to struggling to exist), I know how imperative it is to have a RIGHT diagnosis of the pain that is destroying your life BEFORE you submit yourself, your body/mind/spirit to the experimentation of any and every so-called specialist carrying a medical degree--too often that is all that piece of paper means. You MUST be a partner in this process or risk losing your life or your ability to live one.
