This is a really cool idea! I am going to make at least three of them, one for my room, one for Donna's room, one for each bathroom, and one for Cassidy & Donna's rooms. I guess that's more than three...grin Seems easy to make, easy to hang and easy to use!!

Great Tutorial and plans for buildng your own beading loom. I couldn't fit the entire tutorial into a clip, so you'll have to visit the web site. There are pix and diagrams, and it looks pretty easy to build.

    Memory Wire beaded Stitch Markers
    franstuff
    by franstuff  7-18-2008
Just when I thought I had found absolutely every kind of stitch marker there was, here is even yet another type of stttch marker. She made loopes at the end of the memory wire, but I think memory wire end caps would look more professional, and would be less likely to snag than a loop at the end. Not to mention that memory wire is hard to bend in the first place. You would want to use the size of memory wire intended for rings.

Even another idea! I know this is the type you need for crochet, but I am not sure how this would work for knitting....it seems they have to stay put somethow, and I don't see how these would stay on the needles... I am not an advanced enough knitter to have ever used stitch markers. Hey, if you use stitch markers, and have tried diffferent styles, let me know which ones you like best and why. Thanks! Fran

    Another style of stitch marrker
    franstuff
    by franstuff  7-18-2008
Here's another way to make stitch markers. I am not sure which way is best. I am willing to bet every knitter has their favorite types for different reasons. They are also being made with no hardware at all, just "softflex" type wire, in a loop, with the beads. I haven't been able to figure out where they are crimping it from the set I saw. I am betting the bottom bead is a "crimp cover".

Cool Knitting Stitch Markers.... Example, ideas, how to make them
    franstuff
    by franstuff  7-18-2008
These I found on etsy. If you're into knitting, and not into beading, lots of people sell these on etsy for reasonable prices, like 5 to 7 dollars for a few of them. If you wanted to make them yourself you just have to mosey on down to the craft store and pick yourself up some split rings, some head pins, and some cool beads. Even easier, you could just buy the split rings and hang forever single earrings, charms, old keys, or whatever else strikes your fancy, from the split rings. Buy the split rings in a size approppriate to the size knitting needle you use. Why use boring stitch markers? BTW...split rings are just like key rings, only smaller.
