The What And The Why Of Hypochondria
    fewstingscorpio
    by fewstingscorpio  7-15-2009
that most people who develop hypochondria tend to be neurotic, self-critical, and/or narcissistic. Some perfectionists may also suffer from hypochondria - believing that being healthy means never, ever feeling any pain or discomfort. An underlying medical condition might be a trigger for hypochondria. Some health care professionals say that people with hypochondria have a low threshold for pain. They notice internal sensations earlier than other people do.

    fewstingscorpio
    by fewstingscorpio  5-12-2009
Studies have found that meditation can help prevent relapse in people who have had three or more episodes of depression. There is evidence that meditation has distinct effects on the brain. In one study, researchers measured brain electrical activity before, immediately after, and four months after a two-month course in mindfulness meditation. They found persistent increased activity on the left side of the prefrontal cortex, which is associated with joyful and serene emotions.

More of article: They argue that it's not loving to tell a sick person they had anything to do with creating their illness," he says. "Yet, by not owning their power when they are sick, they are consigning themselves to a life of being a victim of any virus or circumstance that comes their way. This powerlessness is the source of most depression, and it leads to more illness and problems such as overeating." http://www.psychologytoday.com/articles/pto-20021203-000002.html
